Anyone have a recipe for rice pudding in a slow cooker?   I lost mine.  The recipe called for condensed milk.  The only ones I can find online require cooked rice................mine did not.

I have one that only has a few ingredients...rice, sugar, milk and vanilla.

I usually make it on the stove top, but have made it in a slow cooker on occasion.

I use 2% milk to cut calories, but you can use whole milk if you wish.

If this interests you, I'll post it.

Here's one that doesn't require cooked rice. It does require arborio rice, which is easily found at any grocery store. I make my rice pudding in the pressure cooker and use arborio rice. The arborio rice makes it so creamy!

Re: Rice Pudding

[ Edited ]

RICE PUDDING

1 1/2 quarts of milk

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup rice.  I use Carolina rice x long

1 tea. Real Vanilla extract

1/2 cup raisins, if using.

Stir milk, sugar and rice in a heavy pot or slow cooker until sugar dissolves. Make sure to stir often if on stovetop.

Cook on low heat and stir, stir, stir or it will stick and burn.  It doesn't burn in a slow cooker, but takes longer to cook.

When it thickens, turn off heat and stir in vanilla.  You can add raisins about 5 minutes before the vanilla.

sprinkle cinnamon or nutmeg or  whipped cream on top before serving...optional

On the cook top, it takes about 2 hours to thicken....lots of stiring.  Takes longer in a low cooker.

I use 2% milk, but you can use whatever you like....even chocolate milk. This recipe is very creamy.

That is the original recipe.  I always make more.  My "take to a party" recipe ingredients for a crowd are

1 gallon milk

2 1/2 cups sugar

1 1/2 cups rice

2 1/2 tea vanilla

1 1/2 cups raisins

I make this often, by request.  It's an inexpensive dessert to make for a crowd.

I didn't request y'all's recipe for rice pudding but I've copied them and cannot wait to make them. They both look amazing. My mother used to make this often and I loved it but have not been able to re-create it for myself. These recipes seem very similar and @Ainhisg & @Carmie I appreciate you posting them.

@Spacrazy you are welcome; how kind of you to thank us.  Full disclosure:  I have never made the recipe I posted but assume it will turn out; I found it easily online per the OP's request.  That being said, if you have a pressure cooker like an Instant Pot, I can give you a foolproof recipe for rice pudding for it that is so, so good if you are interested.  If not...no worries!
