Carbone brand red sauce--ever try?

Has anyone tried this jarred red sauce? I found it at Target for 1/2 the cost of what it is at the grocery store--was on sale for $6.99 as opposed to $14.99 at QFC----anyway--I cannot make a red sauce to save my soul---just don't have the smarts to do thatWoman Sad--so I depend on jarred sauce and was liking Raos but this brand is even better than Raos--IMO, of course. I added ground beef and mushrooms and garlic to it, put it  over pasta and it was really good. A nice balance --not too sweet and not too acidic but very flavorful.  Not alot of big chunks either. I used the marinara type--there are a few more flavors----DD likes arrabiata sauce and so do I, so will try that one next.

@wagirl   I haven't tried, but will now check for it when I go to Target.  I love to try various brands of jarred red sauces too.  I could eat red sauce on nearly everything lol.  Thanks for sharing this 😊

@wagirl , Thanks for the tip. I just ordered a 2 pack of 24oz. Jars for 12.00. I have Walmart plus so I get free shipping. I'm a Rao's fan , but I'm always willing to try something new.

@QVCkitty1 I'm a Rao's fan too.  Every once in a while I receive a Food & Wine magazine for some reason as their recipes are too upscale for me lol but in the current issue they are rating some jarred sauces and Rao was listed as Most Reliable.  What is disturbing tho it says that they recently were acquired by Campbell's.  Sure hope they don't cheapen it in any way.

Best Overall was Monte's Original Family Recipe Tomato Sauce, best value was Newman's Own Tomato & Basil, Best grocery store brand Aldi Specially Selected Premium Marinara Sauce, and just like grandma's was Vesper Brothers Tomato Basil Sauce.

@chlema I randomly began to receive Food and Wine a few months ago ( I have no idea why)  and like you I never find any recipes that appeal to me.  I use to subscribe to Gourmet until they stopped publishing and would often make recipes found there.  I did appreciate the rating of jarred sauces in Food and Wine.  Most I have never heard of and would not have thought to look for them at the store. I might try to find some of them now.

Carbone's is pretty good, but I just read a survey that said Vincent's Clam Bar jarred sauce beat them out.  If you live on LI, you know Vincent's.  You can find the jarred sauce in many grocery stores.

I very rarely use jarred sauce since tomato sauce is so very easy to make.

I make all my own pasta sauces.   The only jarred sauce I use is Rao's  Homemade Marina sauce for a turkey, basil and mozzarella sandwich.  I never heard of Carbone.

Everyone must be reading reviews of tomato sauces!

The taste test I saw on youtube rated Mutter's as best, Rao's second and Paul Newman's as third.

The 3 chefs were surprized at the poorer quality of Trader Joes and 365.

@cindyNC --I did try Mutters recently and thought it tasted pretty good too. Think it is less costly at Cost Plus/World Market. Paul Newmans, for me was not great. Have used TJ product and it was fine.
