Any t-stat I have ever had took AA batteries.
I change mine when I change my smoke alarm batteries.

Tee hee @ChiliPepper, I was only like five years behind . . . mine runs on AA too and is now functioning perfectly. The thermostat itself is relatively new with the new(er-ish) furnace but I guess I would have appreciated a heads up that the batteries were going bad . . . ![]()
@VaBelle35 I hear you about those high ceilings. As bummed as I can get about my house in retrospect I have to say I am glad I don't have those high ceilings as I am a demon when it comes to energy related bills. I guess my family saved me from myself when they forced my hand to buy my mom's house.
No harm done, I'm still breathing! Or should I say panting . . . tee hee!

Happy Tuesday everyone!
Sorry to have been away for awhile; things have been busy here on the Soup forum!
@Writer with Flair
So happy to hear Rodney has continued to improve and it sounds like the police must have a good case against the person who did this terrible thing. Glad to hear they are guarding their evidence so as not to compromise the situation and make prosecuting more difficult. Go Team Rodney!!!
You have been on my heart and mind so much. If my first husband and I not divorced, we would have been married 40 years this year. I know what you mean about accumulating things thru the years. I have been heartbroken over you having to sell so many of your treasures to strangers and I am just appalled by your stories of people and their "ways." Wanting to bring pet hair to your house to check on how your vacuum cleaned it up? Leaving with the goods, promising to mail the 8.00 they were short on paying you! I'm sure you could go on if you had the time. It keeps going thru my mind that I am going to be you, maybe soon and I just can't imagine going thru this! It has made to start to get rid of some stuff now and I haven't made a dent yet! I am just absolutely haunted by what my imagination has you going thru and what lies before me-kind of like Scrooge and his 3 "visitors" before he changed his ways-YIKES!
I'm so happy Opal and her puppies are doing well and that she only lost one-that in itself is a miracle considering how many she had! I bet she is exhausted!
And I"m happy you got the thermostat thing under control. I don't know how hot it is there but it is miserable here-still! Almost 95 today and tomorrow. But we have managed to get enough rain that everything is still green and growing, instead of the August burn that we usually see by now.
Glad to see you are getting up and around a bit more now and I can't even begin to imagine your weather there! Hope you continue to improve.
Thanks for the s'mores cocktail! Doesn't that look refreshing! I heard on the news today that the NEW GIRLSCOUT COOKIE is going to be - S'MORES! Looks like there might be two kinds:

I'm so glad to see you posting here regularly again; you have been thru a lot.
That cannoli layer cake looked amazing. Have you kept up the last few posts with her? She posted turtle cupcakes, and the brownie layer cake thing today looks like I would need insulin to even take one bite! She also announced her cookbook and is taking advanced orders and offers a chance to win all kinds of baking supplies. Her book includes tutorials on decorating for all levels. We don't eat cake very often but she makes me want to make cake! I may have to get this cookbook.......! And here I am thinking of getting something while I am trying to declutter and downsize things here-Oy!
Even though I have not posted here for a few days, your Mother has been on my mind and prayers. I'm not sure if I missed how her surgery went or not but pray it was successful and she has a quick and painless recovery. ![]()
You sure have your hands full at work! I love the backpack thing. We have several churches and organizations that do the same and have noticed that some churches are also offering free haircuts as well so the little scholars look their best upon returning to school!
My grandson returned yesterday-actually he started in a new school district which is much larger than the one he attended here. I spoke to him yesterday and he said it Loved It! I hope that enthusiasm continues. He is in a class of 26-he has never been in a class with more than 5 or 6.
Guess I better get busy again. Hope all are staying as cool as possible!

Good evening everyone
We organized the backpacks this afternoon and got them checked for missing items. I had a very efficient team. I took the list of missing items and ran to Target tonight to pick them up. Target is wiped out and I was glad I only needed major items like crayons and pencils, of which they had cases.
It was another productive day. I hope to get done with my 10 am meeting tomorrow and come home and work from home for the rest of the day.

What time do you get up?! I could not sleep last night and have been up all night cleaning house or at least what I could without disturbing those fortunate enough to be able to sleep! lt is 5:35 a.m. here in St. Louis and it is hot and humid and miserable already! Please have a great day and be careful, stay cool and will be looking forward to the cocktail of the day! ![]()

I get up at 5 or 5:15 AM EST. Are you on Central time? Are we 1 hour different???
Trust me, I am HORRIBLE about getting up - hate it!!! My problem is, if I hit snooze & try to get 10 more minutes, I fall back into a deep sleep & don't wake back up.
It's heaven to sleep in to 7 or 8 on my day off, but it doesn't happen often LOL!!!
