Hi mustang, that is such a great idea, thanks my friend!
However, I try to take these opportunities to teach DD a little something about life that might help her along the way. Most things I can't do but the ones I can I try to show her. So, we got out last night in the driveway & I showed her the high beams, low beams, signal lights etc. I know it a sounds silly, but until someone teaches you these things, you just don't know. Too many things I had to figure out for myself (some the hard way) so I show her what I can. Trust me, anything much more that changing a light bulb, Chili can't do LOL!!!!
@ChiliPepper first off I so admire and adore the way you are bringing up your daughter. She is going to be so awesome and you are such a wonderful mom! ![]()
I don't think it's silly at all about teaching your daughter about the basics of a car. When I was in my first driver's ed class, I didn't understand how the turn signals worked until I used them a couple of times. The instructor completely humiliated me in front of the whole class because of it and even 40+ years later I can remember wanting to melt into the floor.
There is no detail too small you can teach your child, even the ones that appear to be obvious . . . bless you Chili!

@momtochloemtc
Thanks mtc! But you know, no matter what, I always feel I should be doing more.
Sigh, I guess it goes with the territory.

I forgot to tell you guys that we went blueberry picking the other night. OMG, was it hot!!!!! The berries were very small due to our lack of rain but they still tasted good. We had to pick our little hearts out to fill the container though.
We hope to go one more time before the season is over.

Oh Chili, you are so right to teach this to your daughter! Back when dinosaur's walked the earth and I went to high school, the boys were escorted off to auto mechanics and the girls were escorted off to home ec. It was like girls never drove cars and guys didn't need to know how to sew a button on their shirt or make a sandwich! Back in those days, we had "service stations" where attendants pumped your gas, checked your oil and washed your windows; we had gas wars all the time. I remember paying 18 cents a gallon to fill the empty tank of my Mustang and get change back from a 5.00 bill! Anyway, I digress. Girls DO need to learn basic mechanics-how to fill the gas tank, change the oil, change a tire, fill tires with air and change the lights! You are right to use this as a teaching moment. I am still living back in those dinosaur times with the misconception that changing the light is a "guy's" job! GOOD FOR YOU and CHILI, JR.!!!!!!
Girl, you and I are of the same thought-I would have had Auto Zone changing that light! Good for Chili Jr. to have Chili to teach her but Aunt mtc and Aunt Mustang have a backup plan, just in case! ![]()

Well, way back when, the place I used to work, we had several company vehicles, co-workers vehicles, my own vehicles etc. we used to have them serviced at a garage down the road.
I had a headlight out, so I took it there. That SOB charged me like $ 60.00 (which was ALOT of money for me at that time) to do a 3 minute job!!!!!
$ 10.00 for the bulb (which was way marked up but I expected that) & $ 50.00 (hourly rate at that time) for the 3 minutes of labor (if that)!!!!!!!!!!
Since then, I try to do things myself when I can.
BTW, NONE of us ever took our vehicles back there again!!!
