As for the air fryer . . . I am in love! LOVE LOVE LOVE! For those of us that cook for one or two, perfect. @RespectLife and I first started chatting about it a while ago and it didn't seem like a good fit for me but then when QVC had it as one of their weekend deals, I bit. Previously, I thought I had treated myself to a Philips AF but gosh that thing was so difficult to clean and was rather small. I was so disappointed in that purchase but when I watched the NInja presentation and saw it had different functions I decided to take QVC up on their generous holiday return policy but it won't be going back. What a great appliance and so easy to use/navigate and cooks beautifully. If it ever shows up again as any kind of special, I couldn't recommend it more if for no other reason the cook book that comes with it is terrific. Usually for me those are a throw away but gosh I was like these are great recipes!
@momtochloe, I watched the video but it looks really big. Is it heavy? Thanks for the review.
@tiny 2 it certainly isn't tiny (pardon the pun) but I wouldn't say it is heavy. I consider Le Creuset heavy and this is not nearly that weight. I am just thoroughly thrilled with it. I had terrible buyer's remorse as I had a functioning air fryer (that I was so disappointed in) but gosh after the first time I used it I was so glad I bought it. I so hope it comes back as some kind of special as between the unit itself and the accessories (the skewers and oven racks) it's such a great purchase!

@RespectLife I personally would like to request overnight temperatures around 60 degrees because these mid 70's have got to go! . . . blech.
And hee!
@tiny 2 I am not sure I understand your question about the size of an air fryer but I wouldn't go any smaller than 4qt.. If you don't want a larger one like the Ninja I just bought, I would go 6qt.. This should give you enough room to do both small/quick things but also give you enough room for a larger piece of protein . . . ![]()
Please let me know if you have any other questions, I'll be more than happy to help! ![]()

@momtochloe, They do offer it(double drawer) in different qt. sizes. I was wondering what size you have and concerned about the weight.

Hee oh sorry, duh! @tiny 2 this is the one I just bought when it was a weekend special:
Ninja Foodi 8-qt 6-in-1 Dual Zone Air Fryer w/ Extra Racks & Skewers - QVC.com
It looks like it's an 8qt and weighs a bit less than 18 pounds. I'm not gonna lie, getting the box upstairs wasn't pretty (but that's because I have short arms and couldn't get a good grip) but the unit itself is not (for me) an unwieldy weight. I feel your pain when you talk about your beloved Le Creuset pieces but I think you would be okay with this.
I didn't realize they came in different sizes as to be honest I saw the special pricing and the accessories and I just plowed on in without doing any additional homework and I am glad I did. Please let me know if you need anything though ok? ![]()

@momtochloe, Actually I think I misread a couple of the ads. I went to the website and there are only 2 sizes the 8 qt and 10 qt. Thank you and I want a report on all you are cooking LOLLOLLOL![]()

NATIONAL GUMBO DAY
On October 12th, the menu spotlights National Gumbo Day for food holidays. This heavily seasoned, stew-like dish fills us up on chilly fall days.
Originating in southern Louisiana during the 18th century, Gumbo typically consists of strongly-flavored stock with meat or shellfish, a thickener, and seasoned vegetables.
The seasoned vegetables may include celery, bell peppers, and onions. In Cajun cuisine, the trio is known as the “holy trinity.” Most people serve Gumbo over rice. Gumbo also falls into different categories based on the following types of thickener used:
Gumbo arose from a West African word for okra. Many believe this word association is how the soup and the ingredient became intertwined.
Gumbo is thought to have been first documented in 1802 and was listed in various cookbooks in the latter 19th century.
It gained widespread popularity in the 1970s when the United States Senate cafeteria added Gumbo to the menu in honor of Louisiana Senator Allen Ellender. Gumbo is also the official cuisine of the state of Louisiana.
Since 1989, New Iberia, Louisiana hosts The World Championship Gumbo Cook-Off.

Snort, oh gosh @tiny 2 I am not sure I would call what I do around here cooking but today is shredded pork I made in the IP yesterday and poutine on the side. It's the first time I will be attempting it but our friend @RespectLife has been very generous with her time walking me through the particulars. Fingers crossed, later this week I ordered barramundi and bottom round on sale. I hope at least one shows up as I would love to try the fish in the air fryer and I make a hack of a tomato gravy my mom used to make back in the day that was very complicated. My equivalent of it involves V8 juice, a bay leaf and a little sugar . . . like I said, we use the term cooking around here rather loosely . . . ![]()
