@tiny 2

I think we all just don't know what to say now, and you probably don't either.  Please remember we are keeping you close to our hearts and in our prayers and you have the biggest hug holding you than you can imagine.   My heart is heavy for you and all that you are carrying.   We are here when you are ready-until then, take the time you need and know you are loved.  Heart

Oh Stars and Garters I have to share this!   Our youngest DD just sent us a text.  They have put up outdoor decorations this past weekend.  They have a rather large front yard and she has purchased 4 blow up decorations to help fill in.  3 are Christmas themed (including one that is dinosaur Christmas) and also a blow up Menorah that has "Happy Hanukkah" across the bottom.  Oliver said his favorite was the "harmonica menorah!"  Thru the eyes of children!   He also didn't understand how his Dad got lights on the roof-couldn't understand how that was possible!

So I ordered the TSV on a presale; have not gotten them yet.  I ordered the holiday option. I plan on giving some gourmet style hot chocolate or making a hot chocolate mix, and making homemade marshmallows to give as a gift to my best friend/sister.  I may also include some homemade baileys.  These are super cute.  She will love them!

@mustang66lady @momtochloe @RespectLife @ChiliPepper @VaBelle35 @novamc1@Honeybit , Thank you all so much. Your words do help. I am in such a terrible state. One truth I have learned is that no matter how much you try to prepare yourself, it is not possible. It is just a silly notion to think that you can. My sadness is so immense that I cannot begin to tell you.

Oh @tiny 2  my friend, I can only imagine how you must feel and I am so sorry for your overwhelming grief.  You can tell yourself all the right things but the fact is you lost the most important person in your life so your grief is completely understandable.  Just don't be too hard on yourself in terms of thinking you need to be doing better as that is just garbage.  You've been through a tremendously emotional time and you must be exhausted on all levels.  You need to rest, take care of yourself but most importantly grieve at your own pace.  You know the Kitchenettes are with you and have you in our thoughts and prayers.  There is pretty much literally not an hour in the day that I don't think about you and pray for your well being.  Please take care my dear friend . . . Heart

Oh dearest, I can only imagine the pain and sorrow you must be feeling.  You are right, for my family, knowing didn't make it any easier.

I pray you have family and friends to hold you through the days to come.  Going forward is incredibly difficult as well.

This old hymn helped me immensely and I am going to sing it for you...

My Father this I ask of thee

Knowing that thou, would grant my plea.

For this and only this I pray, STRENGTH for today, just for today.

Strength for each trial and each task.

What more my Father should I ask?

Just as I need it, DAY BY DAY,

Strength for my weakness this I pray.

Oh, I agree with the others, your grief must be overwhelming, I can't even imagine. You are right, you can never truly prepare even though you think you have.

Please take all the time you need to grieve (it never really ends though), you don't have to be strong for him anymore. He is looking down on you with love & admiration for all you have done & how special you made his life.

Sending hugs & prayers my Friend!

Lovin' your cheeseball idea!!!

So funny, you & I were discussing pumpkin cheeseballs two years ago (see below -10/23/17) LOL!!!

I think you came up with the idea of adding a green pepper stem to make it look pumpkiny!

Celery leaves too maybe???

@ChiliPepper wrote 10/23/17:

I'll bet this could be decorated to look more like a pumpkin instead of a blob!!!

Pumpkin Pie “Cheese” Ball

Servings 16 servings

Ingredients
  • 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, slightly softened
  • 1/4 cup butter , softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 Tablespoon pumpkin pie spice (see Notes for substitute)
  • 1 1/2 cups crushed gingersnap cookies
  • graham crackers , apples, and additional gingersnaps for dipping
Instructions
  1. With a mixer blend the cream cheese and butter together until light and fluffy. Add the powdered sugar and brown sugar and blend well. Add the pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice until combined.
  2. Spoon mixture onto plastic wrap in a ball shape. The mixture is wet so it won't quite be a ball but do your best to make a ball or pumpkin shape. Wrap mixture tightly with plastic wrap and place in the freezer for 4 hours or until firm.
  3. Once ball is frozen remove from the freezer. Place gingersnap crumbs on a large plate or platter. Unwrap the ball. It may look scary but will look fine once the crumbs are on it. Roll the ball in the crumbs, pressing the crumbs into the ball. I noticed that if I let the ball sit for a minute before rolling it had enough moisture to make the crumbs stick. Wrap ball in clean piece of plastic wrap and store in the freezer until serving.
  4. To serve: Remove from the freezer about a half hour before serving. The ball can also be stored in the refrigerator for a day or two and will be in a softer state. Any longer than that, it should be stored in the freezer.
  5. Cut into wedges and serve with graham crackers, apple slices, or gingersnaps. Graham crackers are our favorite because it really tastes like pumpkin pie.
Recipe Notes:

If you don't have Pumpkin Pie Spice you can make your own. The substitute for 1 Tablespoon of Pumpkin Pie Spice is: 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, 1/2 teaspoon ginger, 1/4 teaspoon allspice.

This substitution is just shy of 1 Tablespoon but close enough that it shouldn't make a difference in taste.
