Anyone NEED any great ideas, recipes, thoughts?

We are having a Thanksgiving lunch at work Friday. I signed up for an appetizer - mostly because every other category had been signed up for.

My first thoughts were a veggie tray or spinach artichoke dip but I'm definitely open to suggestions!

@ChiliPepper

Can I vote?  Spinach Artichoke Dip is YUMMY!!!

Veggies are too healthy to celebrate with...tee hee

New for Thanksgiving is an attempt at my Gram's stuffing.  Couldn't find anything remotely close online....so sis and I were racking our brains cuz we were little!

It is a bread 'loaf' stuffing sorta meatloaf style.

I remember her drying bread.  I THINK she squeezed them then with milk? Then eggs, and lots of parm cheese.  Guessing on the spices...italian herbs maybe?

Stuffed in the cavaty and then when done, you slice it like a meatloaf.  Makes fab sandwiches.

NOT a crouton stuffing at all.  Solid like a meatloaf is the only way I can describe it.

@momtochloe  suggested grating onions which would be good.  I don't remember ANY onion bits cuz as a fussy child, I wouldn't have eaten it!

@VaBelle35

Does any of this ring your Italian bell?

I asked other 'old Italians' still living and they think I am making the whole thing up!  LOL

Sis confirmed.....so we shall see!

Thinking of you dear friend and praying!

I know these days are hard and long.  May He hold you tightly in His arms.

May we all rest safely in the knowledge that we WILL be together again as He promised.

It was gonna be Tuesday but now she tells me Wednesday so it'll be a short but nice visit.

How is DH doing? I have been praying.

Also, how are YOU doing through all this?

Thankfully, she isn't too far so that will give you extra time to spend together!

DH is doing really well.  Actually using a cane sometimes instead of the walker.

Off all hard drugs and just using Tylenol now.

I took partial week off next week thinking I was getting lots of company.  I think I may still take it off.  He is really itching to get to school but NO drivng for another week.

I can drive him and go back to get him if he insists.  Kinda silly, it is a short school week but he is feeling quite caged!

I may have to take his keys w/ me the rest of the week to keep him at home!

I am doing okay, thanks for asking!  Running a LOT w/ appts. etc but hanging in there!

Hi, Kitchenettes --

Here in Georgia we're back to Fall after a round of extremely hot and then a round of extremely cold (26 degrees) -- today was sunshine and around 60 degrees so TMFY and I have been outside all day doing catch up chores and winterizing chores.  I've been trying to find time to catch up here with Potsticker posts and just saw the latest husband news.

@RespectLife   Glad to see your husband is feeling well enough to ease off on pain meds -- which probably means you're having to increase yours.    I haven't gotten to read all the posts yet so don't know how much of the Impatient Patient Syndrome you've been reporting.

@tiny 2 -- So sorry to see you're dealing with loss. I can only echo what our other posters have said.  Words just can't help very much at all, but knowing how much friends want to help ease the hurt does help as much as anything can.  Adding my love and prayers to all the others coming your way.

To everyone else, know you're not forgotten.  There just isn't enough TIME for all the "I want to" and "I need to" -- it can't possibly be that I'm just Old and Slow. (No, really, can it?)

@Writer with Flair

Oh Writer, I have been meeting myself coming and going these last few days-sorry I am so late to respond.  I'm so happy to hear you and Mr. Writer are doing well!

Our Grandson is well but since his DM is having to take his dad (whom we "lovingly" refer to as his deadbeat) back to court for unpaid child support and numerous other offenses such as refusing to attend parent/teacher conferences and participating in other activities and things that help with his growth and development, our grandson is beginning to feel the pressure.  I asked my DD to talk to his counselor to come up with a good response our grandson can use with his Dad when he interrogates our grandson about what his mother's intentions are.

You thought of some great older movies-I haven't seen Mildred Pierce in years!   And I always loved Scarlett-that entire family would have perished if she didn't make some of the decisions she made.  She wasn't afraid of being right or wrong but realized someone had to move forward and most of the men in her life were weak.  Not many women in older movies are portrayed as strong and if they are, they are portrayed in a bad light.  I remember watching Doris Day cry her eyes out instead of making a decision in many a movie that it frustrated me.  I used to think if my man was taking a beating as many "heroes" did in movies before they prevailed while the females cowered in the corner, I would pick up something and clobber the bad guy in the head-if not, he would be beating me next!

@ChiliPepper

Other than deviled eggs, I rarely make appetizers for Thanksgiving but this year I will be making this;
