It's been a crazy summer -- not to mention a crazy HOT summer -- and I haven't been on QPSS or any forums since the middle of August.
TMFY has had a bad time, and we've run back and forth to the vet. I've been getting up at 5:00 AM several mornings a week to take him to walk at a little park about 6 miles from the house. It's well lighted, and across from an elementary school so there are always police cars in the area. He gets to smell some new smells before it gets too hot for him, and I'm afraid to take him out in our woods before daylight because of the possibilitiy of varmints like coyotes roaming around.
I've also had some guys here for several weeks doing work around the place and the outbuildings. Yes, outdoor work, in all this awful heat and humidity. They've been far and away the hardest working, most careful, and best to clean up after theselves of anybody that's ever worked here. They have amazed me -- not least when they say they've enjoyed being out here. They would work on the west side in the morning and move around to the east side in the evening. I didn't know there were still people with that kind of worth ethicand integrity -- almost restores my faith in humanity!
We've broken all the records for number of days above 90 degrees (probably novamc has kept you informed) -- they're predicting some days down in the 80's next week. Here's HOPING! I haven't forgotten about you all and hope all of you are doing well. I'll catch up on your posts RSN ("Real Soon Now").

I am so sorry to hear you and TMFY have had multiple vet visits . . . sigh . . . it ain't easy getting old. I am so glad you are able to take him to a safe place in the cooler morning air so he can get his daily whiffs in. My most fervent thoughts and prayers for both of you my friend! 
You touched my heart about those folks that are doing work at your place and how hard working and caring they are. I am so glad you have such wonderful help. This is slightly off topic but a couple of years ago I was stranded on the side of the road waiting for help a man came over and asked if I needed help. I told hiim help was on the way but he insisted I take a bottle of water which was appreciated since it was blazing hot that day. It's nice to know those folks still exist.

Hiya @ChiliPepper my friend, things are cool and sunny here and I have zero complaints! I was just telling my long lost blanket last night how much I missed him . . . 
Nothing much going on today. The only thing that will be occurring this weekend is to take my Geoffrey Zakarian pan out for a test drive (I got tired of dinking around with other sheet pans that warp in higher temperatures so I took the plunge when they had it on last weekend and the 11x11 size is perfect for me and the toaster oven). I took out those two bone in chicken breasts I got on clearance last week. One will be roasted with stuffing and potatoes and the other will be used in a chicken taco recipe (bonus, both roasted in the same pan!).
I have got to get back to cooking my meals again as when I pulled on my winter pyjamas there was a lot more shall we say real estate looking to move in . . .
