Hello Kitchenettes,
It has been busy here and I am so behind on all things. Not much different tonight other than having a little pity party for myself as my daughter turned 26 today and time has passed so quickly.
momtochloe,
Nice to meet you! Thank you for picking up the ball - you are correct with the recipe. I just got a quick peek of it and didn't hear all the ingredients let alone quantities. Thank you for taking the time to get it to everyone's attention. Please come back and visit with us often.
Chili,
Hey girl, you are spot on with Katie Lee about that yogurt tenderizing the chicken. I have never tried it but since it can often be used in place of buttermilk and I know buttermilk is often used to tenderize chicken, I have no doubt it will work. I wonder if you could even substitute buttermilk for the yogurt in this recipe? Do you watch The Kitchen? Hey since you like the laundry thing and when you get done with Writer's laundry, I have always got laundry......just sayin'!
Hi Respect,
Looks like you will have to whittle away at that bottle of turmeric one teaspoon at a time! You might enjoy The Kitchen; it is a little different than regular cooking shows. It took some time to "grow on" me but I enjoy it now. I especially enjoy all the cooking tips and hacks they give. I don't think I have made any of their recipes that I can think of off the top of my head but do have a few bookmarked. Their recipes can be found on the food network website but they don't put all those tips and hints there-you have to watch the show for those. Thanks for putting us all wise about the tomato powder-sounds like I will be sending DH to The Spice House next time he is in Chicago on business!
skyblue,
How nice to meet you, too. Hope you come back often to visit with us. Always nice to get to know others since we all don't have a backyard fence to visit over!
Write with Flair,
I'm so very sorry you are ill. Glad you DH is helping some. Count me in on helping out if it were possible but looks like the only thing I can do from here is to pray a hedge of protection around you and yours during your illness and this up coming predicted bad weather on your way. Don't know where you live but I do have an idea of where that storm is though. I just pray it passes over you as well as all others and everyone remains safe, their homes intact, and that shelter is found by all. Please be sure to check back in with us when you are able. Peace be yours.
Have a good evening and peaceful sleep everyone.

Dear Friends...
I too would like to ask for prayers. Mom had a heart attack yesty morning and fell pretty badly. When I couldn't reach her in the morn...I hurried over and found her in a little ball mashed against the wall. She was conscious but incoherent. I called 911 and got her to the heart/stroke specialty hospy. Thank the Lord, no stroke and no broken bones, just bad bruising. God is good! She does have heart stress, dehydration and pnemonia.
She is 84 with Alz. Her dementia is highly excelled right now due to the infections going on inside and the heart stress. She is unable to communicate to us....but is babbling off the wall to SOMEONE!! I am sure the Lord is hearing her words!
I am on my way to the hospy now but wanted to pop in and ask for your prayers. I have no family, no uncs/aunts/cousins/siblings...nada! We are weird Italians, aren't we? Please pray for mom's recovery, her pain, please pray for my wisdom as I handle this alone. After she recovers, she will be unable to live alone and due to full time work and a 2 story house...I can't take her in. Hopefully, a hospy Social Worker will help.
Writer....as I sit in the hospy today I will have lots of time to pray for you....and all other friends here on this thread who may need uplifting.
Thank you friends!

Oh Respect, I'm so sorry about your Mom. My thoughts & prayers will be with her for a speedy recovery. I hope she understands she will have to go into care - that can be tough for an independent person. I lost my Mom in high school but I was at that point with my Dad a few years ago before he passed also.
My thoughts & prayers will be with you also my Friend & I am sending you a BIG hug. Just remember, we are here for you. (((((hugs))))))

Mustanglady, many thanks for your welcome and kind words! It is so nice to visit with such smart and generous folks. You have all helped me through these past few years more than I can say (I have been lurking for quite a while) and I so appreciate it! Very much looking forward to being a part of this group, thank you again for the welcome. It really made my day . . .

Writer, I know I am new here but I hope you are feeling better and that the bad weather literally blows over you and causes no damage. Take care and be safe!

Dear Respect Life,
Please know that you and your dear little mom are in our thoughts and prayers.
I remember hearing somewhere that friends are the family you get to choose yourself. Your QVC Kitchentte family is praying for you and standing with you today. You are not alone. I am here to testify that their prayers surely do work. I am feeling much better today--enough so that I am able to go to a meeting I need to attend today.
Here is Psalm 91 (in the Amplified Version). I thought it might be a comfort to you.
1 He who a]">[a]dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand].
2 I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust!
3 For [then] He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.
4 [Then] He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; His truth and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler.
5 You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow (the evil plots and slanders of the evil) that flies by day,
6 Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you.
8 Only a spectator shall you be [yourself inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High] as you witness the reward of the evild.
9 Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place,
10 There shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near your tent.
11 For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways [of obedience and service].
12 They shall bear you up on their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone.
13 You shall tread upon the lion and adder; the young lion and the serpent shall you trample underfoot.
14 Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows and understands My name [has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness—trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never].
15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation.
I'll be praying an checking back through the day.
Hang in there! You are not alone!
The Writer with Flair

Respect,
You have such a task ahead of you; of course we will all be in prayer for you and your dear Mother. My Mother passed away this past November a week before Thanksgiving. She too had Alz. and dementia and had also had suffered a stroke and silent heart attack. She was 91 when she passed and I still miss her very much. Your situation sounds a lot like mine and I so wish I could help you. You have gotten some very good advice; use the resources available, talk to the social worker to find them out if you are not sure. If you have to place your Mom, do what you must. No one has walked in your shoes and you have to do what is best for your Mom and you. I had to place my Mother and was very blessed to find a wonderful privately owned place for her. I didn't think she would live 6 months after I placed her; she ended up, thru their loving care, living 6 years. There are good places out there but you do have to look. That social worker can be your lifeline in guiding you thru services and even placement if you end up having to do so. In the meantime, just get as much rest as you can, trust in the Lord for strength and guidance, remember you have friends here who will hold you in thought and prayers as well as your DH because he is going to need those prayers as well. Keep us updated when you can, dear one.

momtochloe,
You sure fit in here; I too lurked for a very long time before I ever posted here and finally started while I was recovering from cancer. These ladies really helped take my mind off things a lot and still do. Please jump in anywhere you would like to comment, ask for prayer, contribute a recipe or a critic of one or just to chat if you need/want to. Anyone is welcome to do so at anytime. None of us own this board and no one is excluded as far as I am aware! Thanks again for joining in with us.
