Respect,
Sounds like it would be easier for me to just sling shot a couple of those chickens to you!
I do think a shrink wrapper would be handy but have never invested in one. I don't have the counter or cabinet space. My kitchen, God love it's 60 plus year heart, has been remodeled several times thru its' life and the last remodel was done by someone who wanted a nice looking kitchen but wasn't serious about cooking. You would have to see the inside of the cabinets to understand what a mess they are. The contractor that was here a couple of weeks ago was in shock! I would have to dangle a shrink wrapper from the ceiling and lower it when needed!
ChiliPepper,
A few pages back in this thread where we were discussing tortellini soup, I posted the recipe I use, which is Lavendar's. Click on her name in that recipe and it should bring up her history and you will find a lot of her recipes. She removed a lot of her beautiful photos I think so you may not get to see them but ask anyone who was around when she posted; she gave us some really good recipes and cyber friendship.

Thanks Mustang, I'll do that. I would have loved to see the pictures - oh well. I always look for cookbooks with pictures. Must be the little kid in me huh?

ChiliPepper,
Oh no, not kid like at all! Sometimes I picture a recipe in my mind only to find out it looks entirely different. Photos usually get my attention almost before the title does. I don't think she removed all the photos, so it will be worth a look. If you are looking for other wonderful past posters there was Ties that Bind who posted wonderful recipes when I first found this forum. Carol 1229 posted about the same time that Lavendarsage did and took magazine worthy photos of her glorious recipes, too. I think from time to time, she pops up on this forum but certainly not like she used to. Her photos of her Christmas cookie trays were jaw dropping. There was a poster before I found the forums that maintained a blog for a long time with recipes of past contributors where you could also find many wonderful recipes. Her name was Holly and at one time I had her blog marked in my favorites but when I got a new computer, I lost my favorites list. I know it started with bb.......? Perhaps LilBit will see this and remember. (She also posts wonderful recipes but since she is still on these boards from time to time, I'm sure you know that, along with many others currently posting). There may be some other current posters who know to whom I am referring but since she posted here before I started reading, I'm not sure who currently is aware of her. Britbrit started a thread of recipes from past posters where you can find some of the fine recipes that have been passed along thru this forum. I'm not sure who all posts photos of their recipes though. Happy hunting!

I don't post much, but I think this might be what you are looking for.

Wow, Is that ever a great site! Thank you so much, SmokieBear for posting that! I am going to have fun looking through it all!
My bosses dad gave me the Foodsaver! His wife passed and he had tons of stuff to give away. He found 3 of those and 4 crockpots in the basement. Funny....they went out to eat 6 out of 7 nights/week and ate leftovers on the 7th! Not sure why she had all the cooking stuff!
I had one in my wish list forever and kept talking myself out of it. I can't find boneless chix thighs except in those big family packs. When I freeze w/ zip lock freezer bags...no matter how good I wrap, they got freezer burn b4 I could use them up.
I have to keep it in the basement for lack of kitchen room. I am hoping to try shrink wrapping whole strawberries this summer. The bags of frozen are just disgusting and most of the year the 'fresh' ones look pretty bad too.
I guess I just couldn't justify the purchase even on EZ Pay for just chicken, but boy am I glad I have one now!
Just like the Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer I waited 20 years to get. And a crock pot that I never had and just bought 2 years ago! How did I live w/o those???
But then there is the dang rice cooker I had to have that makes just as bad of rice as I do! DH wants to hit me w/ that one!

SmokieBear -
THAT'S THE SITE!!!!!
All I could remember is it started with "bb" and Holly is who set it up and maintained it. I never knew who Holly was or why she stopped posting here but she seemed to be a legend that lived on thru this site for many posters. Thank you ever so much for taking the time to post that site. I'm happy to have it again and am sure many will have a great time reading those recipes and trying them out. Please post with us anytime.
Respect, my sister,
We sound alike again. I have to keep many (most) of my smaller appliances downstairs but it is such a hassle to bring them up all the time only to use and return to the basement. I do keep my Kitchenaid mixer, food processor and blender on my counter but they take up the majority of territory on that counter. And like you, I waited a long time before I got one; at least thru 23 years of marriage and an additional 4 or 5 after that. My current DH realized I was "lusting" for one but couldn't justify spending the money. If only I had realized that I had spent that much money and more thru the years on cheaper less efficient mixers, well I could kick myself. I didn't buy the rice cooker but my steamer fixes rice and it isn't too bad but we don't eat rice enough to justify keeping it so it was sent off to one of the daughters. I have several cabinets (not a lot) and none of them will hold a regular size box of cereal standing upright, so most small appliances won't fit in them either. Glad you are enjoying your gift! And it is easy to get hooked on crock pots-I have several of all shapes and sizes and they get used mostly for keeping foods warm at family dinners. I like food to be served hot, not cooled off and while I have pretty serving dishes, I find the food gets too cool for me to enjoy, I keep foods warm in crockpots and on electric serving trays on the island in our kitchen and we serve buffet style. I love it because I can set a pretty table and not have to worry about dishes of food sitting out and did I allow enough room for them!

Hi SmokieBear, Mustang66Lady, and other posters. I just checked, and Hollee's site is still available online at http://bb-recipes.com. It was last updated in 2009. If you click on the word Links toward the right at the top of the page, it will take you to another page with 2005 BB Holiday Goodies at the top. Click on it and you will get a downloadable PDF file of the 2005 "Holiday Cookbook" some of the posters at the time put together -- one of the first pages is a list of those who contributed.
Hollee did a wonderful job on the site she put together, and the recipes are easy to look at and copy to your PC. Someone posted the information soon after I first came to Recipe Swap, and I'm happy to help pass the links on again.

Thank you HoneyBit,
I spelled Hollee's name incorrectly (was just happy that I remembered something close enough that you and HoneyBear knew who I was referring too). Yes, years ago when I first started reading this site, the board was all afire about this link and Hollee. I immediately "saved" it to my favorites but for some reason it didn't transfer to this computer when my info was downloaded. I was so sorry not to have it anymore. Thank you for the tips about how to download the file, too.
ChiliPepper,
When Lavendarsage was posting her wonderful recipes and photos, so was Carol 1229. I happen to remember that Carol 1229 also posts on the Taste of Home website and also posts her photos there if you want to check them out as well as searching her nic on this site, too. She uses the same nic on the Taste of Home site.
