Happy Birthday!  I hope you had a wonderful day.

Ditto that, seattlegirl98026!  I love what Indian Jones said in "Raiders of the Lost Ark,"  "It's not the years but the mileage."

Emmergency Prayer Request

Please pray for our friend's son.  Someone hit him over the head or he fell (they are not sure) and he was found in his driveway.  He is now in intensive care and probably by now in surgery for a craneotomy.  I was at the hospital today and DH and I are getting ready to go back over there as soon as I finish this post.

We called John Hagee's prayer line and Joyce Meyer's prayer line as well.  If you have prayer services, tonight or know of any other prayer lines, please lift him up.  His name is Rodney.  Thank you so much.

Agree on the beauty of your state and can completely commiserate with you about the tax thing!  IL is bankrupt and I don't think there is a more corrupt state in the union!  DH says everyone votes in IL and votes often-even the dead residents!  I'm sure our greatest governmental contribution from this state, Abraham Lincoln, would not even recognize it now.  Smiley Sad

HEY you are speaking of my alma martar . . . sigh . . . and unfortunately you are correct.  IL is a mess and I truly thought our current governor would put us on a better path but I think he has only made it worse.

I don't want to go any further to avoid any problems with the mods but I truly do think the dead people voting went out of fashion when the original Mayor Daley of Chicago passed away.

My heart just sank as I read this.  Already lifting him, his doctors and nurses, and family and friends up in prayer.  When something like this happens in our lives, I try to think of the affected person and look for the lesson God was trying to teach me thru this person as I believe we all have a purpose to serve for Him.  It helps me focus on the blessings I have received from God thru this person.  Keep us updated when possible but get the rest you and Mr. Writer need, too.  We will be here.  Heart

I understand what you are talking about; I was born and raised in IL and have lived here most of my life except for a few years in MO and AZ.  And I live in the second most corrupt county in IL-I'm sure you can figure that one out but if not, it's the county that literally brought all kinds of litigation from all over the country to settle here, because of the "generosity" of our courts!

Yes, the dead in Chicago did vote often in days past; they still do down here in SO. IL-at least in some counties!  Woman LOL  I'm not ready to give the ol' girl up yet but it is depressing to read how many are leaving the state and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why........Woman Frustrated

That's my kind of popsicle!  I only drink coffee in cool/cold weather-I just lose my taste for it during warm weather.  I love ice coffees-just hate the calories and have never been able to adjust the sugar enough to lower it to a more "acceptable" amount and still enjoy the taste of the coffee.  Funny thing is I don't use any kind of sweetner/sugar in my hot coffee but don't enjoy cold coffee without some added sweetness!  I'm messed up  Woman LOL

Ha!  We like what we like!

Dear Kitchenettes,

You'll never know how much your prayers have meant--and worked!  I have good news to report:  Rodney survived the surgery and appears to be doing well.  They took out part of his skull to relieve the pressure from the swelling of his brain.  The piece they took out is being frozen to be reattached in a few months.

Please continue to pray for Rodney and the family.  I appreciate your prayers more than you can imagine.

Love,

Writer

Oh Writer,

What good news!  Thank you God for answering our prayers!  Now you and Mr. Writer get some sleep.  I'm sure the family are going to need all the support they can get in the coming days.  Heart
