Ok, so am I the only one that has never tried Stillton cheese???

Do I live under a rock possibly???

Hi @ChiliPepper . . . make room under that rock for me too . . . I have heard great things about Stilton but just have never had the opportunity to splurge and buy it for myself.  I had no idea it came in so many different varieties!

@momtochloe

Is it a cooking cheese, a cheese & cracker cheese, soft, hard, cut-able, spread-able???

Ok, I guess I need to do some research.

@ChiliPepper

@momtochloe

I haven't had a chance to read @momtochloe link yet...but since I just bought the Cranberry Stilton...here is my thoughts..

It is not a slicing cheese.  It crumbled as I sliced.  You would not be able to really get good slices for Triscuits...

It is very soft. If I really needed it to be on crackers, I could very easily put a little of crumbs in a pile on top and mush down and mold with my fingers, but no guarantees it doesn't fall right off that cracker!...lol

It would be a great cheese to crumble in/on/over any meat/fish/entree dish/casserole/salad etc. Anywhere I would use Feta, Blue, gorgonzolla etc...I would use Stilton.

It did slightly melt when I put it on my asapagus/egg dish...but not melty, melty like a cheddar/m&C cheese.

The cranberry stilton had a sweetness to it...almost like a dessert cheese?  I swear it tasted a tiny bit like cake mix to me!  LOL

I might try it in my Watermelon Salad instead of Feta next time!

Well, I am pleased to report that despite the pressure from @ChiliPepper  (tee HEE)

I was able to resist and NOT order the Khaki Green TSV Shooties yesterday.

Whew!  She tried...but I fought it off!  LOL

(hee, hee, HEE @ChiliPepper)

BUT, if they ever go on sale/clearance...you can believe they will find their way in my cart!

@RespectLife For me, the bigger question is, "How do you get to be cheese manager?"  This would be my dream job!

Again, many thanks to everyone for making me feel so welcome.  I'm thrilled to be a "Kitchenette Trainee"!

Awww...shucks!  (((hugs)))

I am obsessed with finding Lemon Stilton now!  LOL

No luck so far, but I just printed a list of cheese shops in Buffalo.  There are not very many.  My JUMBO Wegman's has never carried lemon.  I need to call back when the Cheese Mgr. is available to see if it can be ordered but the girl didn't think so...since so many of what they purchase comes in a 50 LB wheel!  LOL  I remember DD crabbing about lugging those buggers around!  I don't think I want to purchase 50 lbs.

Has anyone ever ordered cheeses online?

If so...can you recommend a site??

@RespectLife I don't want this post to get bounced so I will be careful how I word this.

I have heard very good things about igourmet or gourmet-foods and they both appear to have the cheese you are looking for.

Mangia my friend!

I know, right?  DD loved the cheese shop...until...Atilla the Hun was transferred from another store to hers!

She had worked in the Pharmacy for about 6 years...and was transferred to Cheese as part of a "pre" management program.  They wanted her to work in ALL depts.  Atilla was unbearable, sadly.  Most staff either transferred out or left.

Eventually, DD decided to pursue other work as her "management" training wasn't moving in the direction she hoped for/was promised.  3 mos. after she moved on...Atilla left the company...or was excused...not sure!

BUT while she was there...she certainly expanded our verizons beyond cheddar!

Atta girl, @momtochloe  !!

You always come through for us!

The "i" site I found easily.  That site is amazing!  I can't wait to have time to delve into it better!  YUMMY!

The second one I couldn't find...only a funny page that the domain name was for sale.

Thanks!

Hmmm . . . @RespectLife did you add the hyphen between gourmet and food?

Tee hee . . . you can also find the cheese on Amazon via igourmet . . . you better be sitting down when you see the price . . . I so hope you are able to find something local . . . yikes!
