Hey Respect, how goes it???
I believe it was you that made the bacon jam correct??? I tried to find your comments & critique in this thread but failed. It takes forever to locate something BTW, page by page by page.
I was thinking of trying it but I THINK I recall you saying it was not so good but I'm not sure.
Your thoughts (& anyone else who cares to comment too).

Good morning ladies.
This is it...the big day! :-) My house smelled devine this morning while I was baking my dish. I hope it tastes as good as it smells. Can really smell the Italian spices.
Bacon Jam?....it has a sort of appeal but I'm not sure I'm that adventurous even though I like to mix my jam, bacon, eggs, toast together. I once tried bacon cupcakes that someone brought into the office after a bacon fest but they were nasty IMO. Too smokey too salty for my likings.

I think you are right Chili. I do believe Respect did take a run at it. Of course now that we are not allowed to eat bacon I guess that takes bacon jam off the menu . . . ![]()

Good morning everyone!
Thanks for the kind words on my pie. I put the bug in their ear to do a sugar cookie contest for the Christmas Festival. She liked the idea but these baking contests are a big fail and few enter and even less actually show up. I don't have time to go back through Facebook and find the original post, but they changed the prizes when some of the people didn't show up. It was a very "fluid situation" as they say. At one point they said we all get a ribbon and then they called second place up to the stage and said she was getting a gift card, but then said, no gift card, just a ribbon. I got a $20 gift card. I think that was the original third place prize. I will give the gift card away as I do it for the ribbon and the glory. LOL
I forgot to post about the Kitchen Witch. It seems appropriate during this holiday week. I had never heard of this before until a year ago at a Weight Watchers meeting, my old leader found a bag of them in a house they were renting. The original owner used to make them. She gave me a small one to hang in my kitchen.
Here is the wiki on it:

Today is Meeting Tuesday. I am in back to back calls until 5. I went to the derm yesterday and got my patches put on. I need to google if this stuff causes insomnia because I could not sleep all night and I finally took 2 Advil PMs at 3 am and it barely made a dent. The patches themselves are not bad, but the nurse thought that since I live alone and couldn't tape them back on if they started to peel that she would put 500 feet of surgical tape across my back. I could hardly drive home from the appointment as I was too taped up to move. The tape has loosened up a bit. I get them off at noon tomorrow. So far, I'm not uncomfortable and no itching.
I'll be back!
Do we have a theme this week? I need to start getting my act together for what to cook this weekend. I'm not very hungry and I'm not feeling inspired. I need to go scroll some pins on Pinterest for ideas.

Good morning Witchenettes in the Kitchen!
It is dark and overcast here and I just can't seem to get motivated.
Chili,
I think it was Respect who tried the bacon jam as well. I have several recipes for it and think of making it once in a while but never have done it. Not sure what I would use it on and I am the only one who eats toast so sure don't need a jar of that stuff to myself!
Not really caring what they say about bacon-my Grandma lived to be 102 as did my first husband's Grandma. They ate either bacon or sausage everyday, drank whole milk, used salt, real butter, and ate eggs-which if you all remember a few years ago were "not good for us" either. When it is my time to go, it's my time to go. I try to eat "real" food, not chemicals, try to buy as healthy as possible and there is bacon that is nitrate free and it's good. I won't eat turkey bacon-too many chemicals to make it taste like bacon that I don't see how it could possibly be healthier than the real thing.
mtc,
What are you sweet and souring today? And what ingredients are you short on? Maybe we could help you come up with a substitute if you get stuck. I know some sweet and sours use cherry and some use pineapple, it that is one ingredient you dont' have.
Vabelle,
How sweet of you to donate your gift card to someone. I was reading yesterday where someone said they use those Kohl's cards to buy a toy at Kohl's and donate those to Toys for Tot's or the Marines' Toy Drive-think I plan on doing that with the next ones I get-it was a great idea (wish I had thought of it!).
straykatz,
UMMMMM! I can almost smell a win here from your description! GO TEAM!!!!!!!

@VaBelle35 I remembered the Kitchen Witch from years ago and when I looked it up I had such great memories . . . it would be nice to have one hanging in the kitchen!
And it's a shame that baking cookies (or baking period) is almost becoming a lost art. I always admire whatever is posted as you can see the love and care that went into whatever was made.

Mustang, you are so sweet to offer to help with the sauce but it came out not too bad . . . at the end I dragged in the big guns (Penzy's) and dried shallots and red bell peppers were flying . . . nowhere near the original recipe but more than edible . . . very typical for the cuisine de mtc . . . ![]()

Well, I have a feeling she said it was not that great & not worth the trouble but I can't find her post. This dang thing only lets you go back one page at a time & WE HAVE A LOT OF POSTS LOL!!!
I bought some cute jars on clearance this weekend & I was going to make some for Christmas for a friend who LOVES bacon but I am not going to bother unless it was AWESOME!
mtc's pumpkin butter recipe IS AWESOME so I will make that again instead if the bacon one stinks.
