The pulled pork was a big hit at our family reunion. I took about 5 lbs. of pork butt roast and covered it with Coca-Cola. I put it in the slow cooker Friday night before going to bed. I took it out Saturday afternoon, disposed of the fat and gristle and pulled it between two forks. I then refrigerated it until Sunday morning. I put it in the slow cooker (that I had cleaned, ha, ha) and put Sweet Baby Ray's barbecue sauce on it until it was moist. Then I cooked it until it was time to take it to the reunion.
I had a little left over, but someone else had also brought pulled pork (but Sweet Baby Ray's sauce looked a lot more appetising.
So, thanks for the ideas. I have copied the others so I have them readily available for future reunions.

@wismiss What a great success! It is so rewarding when others devour our food!! Love the recipe!

@wismiss I just read that you can easily shred your cooked pork by attacking it with your electric mixer. Put it in the bowl of your stand mixer or I suppose you could use a hand mixer. They say a mixer makes quick work of it.

Did you originally consider using root beer instead of coke?
Maybe it was someone else.
If it was you, what made you change your mind?

I also made a salad that had 12 ounces of Coca-Cola in it. I am diabetic but did not want to cook with diet soda, so I used Coca-Cola for the pulled pork, also. That way I didn't have to buy two different sodas. And, I wasn't sure how much soda it would take to cover the pork roast. I didn't want any soda with sugar leftover.
