@Toots711 Thanks for posting this chart...I'm picky about the kind of onions I use which are usually purple and sweet.  If I'm making a Mediterranean salad ...it must have feta (vegan), Kalamata olives, and purple onions, etc.  It makes a difference.

I use onions just about every day, but have never, ever, bought red onions or shallots!  I always go for sweet or yellow onions, and rarely have less than 5 lb on hand at any given time.

Much like @RedTop I use sweet onions most days. I primarily switched to sweet onions because they are easier on my digestive system.  I occasionally will use a red onion...typically in a salad. I never use yellow or white onions. I've probably only used shallots a half dozen times. 

 

We love onions and garlic in my family. When we get down to just 3 onions, my husband will ask me if I know we are almost out of onions. He's better at the grocery buying than I am.

i primarily use only sweet onions - when i peel the others - gosh - the tears.....

and i do use a lot of onions

I buy red onions and use them for eveything.  Occasionally, I will buy a yellow or white onion.
