No recipe really. I used to do this all the time in the summer before I gave in to GI issues and headaches from the main ingredient. 100% natural, 2 ingredients.
Chunk up cold seedless watermelon, seed if you prefer the taste of seeded. Blend until liquid.
Pour into your glass, and add the juice of half, to a whole lemon to taste. (use Leomoncello instead for an adult version)
That's it.
It tastes like fresh lemonade. Naturally pink and sweet. So good. You can water it down if you want, but I wouldn't recommend it. I would make the watermelon juice ahead of time to have it. Then just juice the lemon as I needed. This makes a great mocktail served in a martini glass rimmed with salt.....watermelon and salt are awesome together....

This sounds really, really good. I was in Cancun vacationing a few years ago and was having breakfast at the dining room of the hotel I was staying in (Hilton). One of the things on the menu was fresh squeezed watermelon juice and it was soooooooooo good!

Sounds so refreshing!

This does have sugar, from the watermelon, and even though natural, it is still a sweetener I can't have. On the Glycemic scale it is near the top at 72 out of 100 so those sensitive to sugar or diabetic may not be able to drink it. It also has almost no fiber.

Yes, while it doesn't contain added sugar or chemical sweeteners, it has naturally occurring sugar from both the watermelon and lemon. It does have fiber, since the watermelon is not strained, and the lemon juice and pulp are squeezed directly into it.
I come from a family of Type 2, my sister and I deal with Type 1 or hypoglycemia, since we are both in our thirties those in charge say we're "too old" to have Type 1, yet the same issues are there. We've both dealt with issues since we were kids. We've all figured out how to have fruit and cane sugar without over doing it. Like this, instead of me drinking it I would squeeze the lemon over a bowl of watermelon chunks. The act of eating the watermelon slows down the absorption of the sugar since I'm not drinking it quickly. Also, research shows having protein with sugary fruits slows the absorption too since it takes longer to digest proteins, down side it since fruit digests quickly it sits in the acid and basically ferments with can cause stomachaches, or other gi issues.
I cringe at the on going fad of drinking a bowl of fruit, aka a "smoothie", for breakfast. Yes, it's natural, but if you wouldn't sit and eat the entire bowl in a matter of minutes, then don't pound it in liquid form. Ya, know?
This is more of a slow sipping summer drink, than outright drink. If that makes sense.
