I have been asked to bring appetizers to friend's Thanksgiving dinner - any ideas gratefully received. Cold ones preferable as we have to transport them to her house. I am not very good on appetizers I was hoping to provide pie. Thanks fir any help.

My grown children always like to snack before a "big meal" and I always accomidate with a tray of vegitables/ranch dip and a tray of cheese/summer sausage and crackers. I also like to have a mix of peanuts, candy corn candy and seasonal M & M's. . .

I would do the Knorr spinach dip, crackers, and a veggie tray.

Cranberry Orange Cheeseball
2- 8oz pkg cream cheese
1- box dry Orange jell-o
1/2 cup chopped dried cranberries
Soften cream cheese and mix in jell-o and cranberries, place on plastic wrap atnd form into a ball. Chill in fridge and place on a serving plate surrounded by Ritz crackers, graham cracker fingers or ginger snaps. Enjoy!
(I have used sugar-free jello to make this cheese ball & it was also delicious. I have also crushed nuts & rolled the formed cheese ball in the nuts.)

I have two recipes, one for a dip for a vegetable tray, and one for a fruit tray.
I don't know about anyone else, but with all the heavy food at Thanksgiving I really gravitate toward some raw vegetables or refreshing fruit.
Vegetable Dip
1 8 ounce package cream cheese with chives
1 4.25 ounce Underwood White Meat Chicken spread
dash soy sauce*
small dash garlic powder
1 Tablespoon mayo or miracle whip (optional)
*if I don't have soy sauce, I leave it out. Sometimes I have a small package laying around from Chinese takeout.
Mix all together and refrigerate. Serve with veggies and/or crackers of your choosing. (It really is good with all different colored peppers, stick carrots, sliced cucumbers, and celery.) Makes a pretty platter if you use a red & green peppers, celery, carrots. and some cauliflower florets. I got this recipe from a co-worker about 25 years ago.
Dip for Fruit Tray
1 8 ounce strawberry cream cheese
2 Tablespoons strawberry preserves
1 8 ounce carton frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 7 ounce jar marshmallow cream
Beat cream cheese and preserves until blended, fold in whipped topping and marshmallow cream. Cover and refrigerate. I center a bowl on a large round platter and surround it with fruits like strawberries, fresh pineapple cubed , cantaloupe cubed, grapes and some well drained mandarin oranges.
