If you are not a good cook, Betty Crocker makes about a half dozen box mixes for scalloped potatoes, au gratin, etc.
I'm not a big enough fan of scalloped potatoes to ever make them from scratch personally. I've used the boxed mix before, family ate it up.

@software I have used those, too, with success. I just happened to have a bag of potatoes and ham that I would like to use up.
Thanks for your response!

@Tends2dogs Our DIL made the following recipe, and I embarrassed myself by eating so much of it. I couldn't resist.
Cheesy Potatoes
2 lb Hash Browns, Country Style
1/4 cup butter
1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup
1 pint Sour Cream
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup onion, chopped finely
10 oz Sharp Cheddar Cheese
2 cup Corn Flakes
1/4 cup butter, melted
Soften hash browns.
Combine first six ingredients (Butter through Cheese)
Mix ingredients with hash browns and place in baking dish.
Crush Corn Flakes and combine w/ melted Butter. Place mixture on top of potatoes.
Bake at 350 for about 1 hour uncovered or until hot.

Do you have a food processor?

@lolakimono Too funny, NO! I don't like to cook. I am a "bit" sorry to say. I wouldn't have an oven if I didn't have to LOL.

Scalloped potatoes are so easy.Thin slice potato,a little onion, make a white sauce.Put potato in casserole sprinkle the onion and pour over the sauce.Stir in some grated sharp cheddar cheese and bake for at least one hour at 350.

@IamMrsG I have this recipe and have made it often for family get togethers.
I may have to tweak it using peeled, sliced potatoes.

@dex Do you melt your cheese in the white sauce?

you can and then add some more on the top if you want lots of cheese. The scalloped potato is prettying forgiving. If it is drying out too much in the oven you can add a little more milk or cream.
you can see a similar recipe if you look up old fashioned scalloped potatos.
