Deb, you can use a regular size envelope (packet) of dry yeast in the recipe, if you don't have any yeast in cake form.
I often use loose yeast for my bread machine in other recipes, so I have to be able to convert amounts of yeast in order to do that, so I will often look things up because sometimes a recipe might call for so many packets of yeast, and I am using teaspoons instead, etc.

In my area, it depends on the market. I love using cake yeast, as you get much better yeasty taste with it and the yeast is more vibrant as an organism. Hope you can find some.
