I saw the thread for the A&P Spanish Bar Cake, and that reminded me of my childhood favorite grocery store cake -- Merita Bakery's Seven Layer Cake. It was a yellow cake with a wonderfully fudgy chocolate icing that easily peeled away from the layers. The cake was cut in half and packaged that way so all the layers showed. Does anyone remember that cake and have a recipe for a similar frosting? I know it can't possibly be as good as I remember it, but that "store-bought" cake was a favorite treat back then.
