My friend gave me a pkg of frozen meatballs. Not the Italian flavor. Would it work if I just heated them up in some gravy & eat them over mashed potatoes? Would I need to do something else to them? Thanks

@cookinfreak  It's like meatloaf in a ball.  Eat it any way you want!  I'd heat and eat--sounds good to me!  Like Salisbury steak in the round!  Woman Wink

Nothing wrong with plain meatballs! You can use them in spaghetti sauce - just heat them in your favorite jar brand sauce or make homemade. Or use them in meatball sandwiches with some Hoagie rolls (heat the meatballs in an Italian sauce and add some provel cheese to your sandwich). Use them in a homemade vegetable soup in your crockpot. Or, like you said just add some gravy and mashed potatoes!

Yes! to your question.

I keep a bag of (not Italian) meatballs in the freezer too.

For a real fast meal I'll throw mashed potatoes on a dish, surround it with any vegetables, tuck 4 to 6 meatballs into the potatoes.

These are also great for meatball sandwiches. A nice roll, good tomato-y sauce. Mmmm!

I would make a mushroom sauce and mix them in and serve over noodles.

I just had the RANA chicken with Portabello Mushroom sauce found at Costco, took the chicken out (it's all packaged seperately) and replaced

with meatballs...that was delicious.

Yes, I use them that way quite often.

I also heat the meatballs in a mix of cream of chicken soup and brown gravy, and serve over rice.

Or sauté peppers and onions, heat the meatballs and serve on sub buns with melted provolone.

@Mistreatedbycs, those are very popular. It seems my Costco store sells out all the time.

And I love making Swedish Meatballs over noodles.

To me, there's no wrong answer about what you can do with meatballs. In fact, there is a restaurant chain that sells nothing but various meatball dishes.

@cookinfreak Use a packet of Pioneer Brown Gravy Mix or McCormick Brown Gravy. Pour over the heated meatballs for a variety in taste. Serve with mashed potatoes (Idahoan instant if in a hurry) or rice. Dip into extra gravy while eating. Yummy!
