I was looking through Mary Beth's cookbook and this recipe is on my "to make" list!

Mary Beth's Orange Cake

1/2 cup butter

1 cup sugar

1 egg

rind of 1 orange, grated

1/2 cup chopped raisins

1 cup sour milk

2 cups flour

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

juice of 1 orange

1-1/2 cups sugar

Cream together the butter and 1 cup sugar; add egg, orange rind, sour milk and vanilla. Blend well. Add flour, soda and salt; fold in raisins. Pour into 9x13 inch pan.

Bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes. When done cool for 5 minutes.

Combine orange juice and 1-1/2 cups sugar; mix well and pour over cake.

The one thing that I might change is the frosting. She says to mix 1-1/2 cups sugar with the juice of just 1 orange. I don't see how this ratio of juice to sugar will make this a pourable mixture. I may just make my own frosting.
