This morning the waffles turned out closest to the ones I'm trying to recreate. Cooked on medium-low for three minutes. (N.B.: this is half the volume of the original recipe).

1½ cups flour

½ tablespoon baking powder

½ tablespoon baking soda

¼ teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

1 cup maple syrup

¼ cup half & half

3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Preheat a waffle iron. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.

In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, maple syrup, half-and-half and butter. Stir egg mixture into flour mixture until just combined. Do not overmix; batter should be slightly lumpy.

Drizzle with maple syrup and dust with powdered sugar just prior to serving.
