I don't have a recipe, but I'm a very experienced cook.  Are you sure you want to add cream cheese?  It separates very easily when heated.  If you find a recipe I would definitely try it at home in the next couple of days before taking it to a gathering.  Best of luck.  Let us know how it goes.

Just my personal taste, but I can't imagine cream cheese added to green bean casserole.

No offense intended, just my personal taste for this dish.

@brandiwine

I agree, I never introduce a 'new' recipe at a gathering, I need to test it out first and save myself any embarrassment if it's a 'fail', LOL!

Re: Looking for.........

[ Edited ]

My recipe uses heavy cream and milk:

2 lbs fresh green beans, cut in 1" pieces

4 tbsp butter

1 lb baby bella mushrooms, chopped

1/4 tsp thyme leaves

2 tsp minced garlic

1 tsp salt

1/4 tsp pepper

1/4 cup flour

1 1/2 cups chicken broth

3/4 cup heavy cream

3/4 cup milk

1/2 cup panko crumbs

2 1/2 cups canned fried onions

Stir 1 tbsp melted butter and panko crumbs in bowl.  Stir in fried onions.

Stir beans and 1/2 cup water in glass bowl.  Cover and cook in microwave for 8 minutes, stirring after 4 minutes.  Drain and spoon into greased 9"X13" baking dish.

Melt 3 tbsp butter in big skillet.  Stir in mushrooms, thyme, garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook until mushrooms are tender.  Stir in flour and cook for 2 minutes.  Slowly whisk in broth until mixture is smooth.  Whisk in cream and milk.  Simmer and stir until sauce is thickened.  Stir into beans in baking dish.

Bake in 400 degree oven for 20 minutes.  Sprinkle panko/onion mixture over top.  Bake for 8 more minutes until topping is golden brown.  Let cool 5 minutes before serving.

Recipes using cream cheese come up if you do a search like green bean casserole with cream cheese.

On the other hand, @deepwaterdotter's recipe looks good šŸ˜‹

@Luvsmyfam,

You can try it but you also have to make the regular one cause you know its against the law to tamper with that good ol greenbean casserole!😁

Actually I take that back.

My daughter made one but really altered it by adding large fresh mushrooms and made the greenbeans less done and a creamy sauce with crispy something (not sure what, I just help eat it!) on top.

Now she makes it every Thanksgiving and Christmas. I like it a lot.
