Re: Looking for Scone recipes

King Arthur has nice mixes and flavors. I do enjoy just the vanilla ones and I bake them on parchment paper in air fryer.

@BirkiLady  I have never rinsed the blueberries after they are frozen.

@CelticCrafter  @zanna  Would I be able to eliminate the sugar coating, then? My sister is in town and I'd like to surprise her with real scones. Your receipe sounds closest to what we've each had on various trips to Europe with our own families. Or shall I go with the receipe this time and "test receipes" another time? I don't use artifical sweetener ever. Those chemicals are worse than the sugar!

@BirkiLady If you are using packaged frozen berries, I would check the contents on the package to see if sugar is added.  My experience is that no sugar is added, so no need to rinse.  I think these ATK recipes should be followed to the letter for best results.  Good luck and I'll be excitedly watching the wedding, too!  Cannot wait to see her gown!

Re: Looking for Scone recipes

@zannaBought the berries . . . and you are correct. No sugar added to frozen fruits. I'm good to go. Making scones tonight! Then taking them to my sister's Bed & Breakfast (hotel rooms were filled). We'll watch Meghan and Harry's wedding from there with tea served to us. Her daughter is being married in FL the following week . . . and yes, I'll be there! Oh, this is such a fun part of our lives. Re: Looking for Scone recipes

Thank you everyone! There are a lot of great ideas and a very easy to follow recipe here! I cheated and because of lack of time - and because I didn't want to get only 2 hours of sleep tonight - I bought some on my way home from a local bakery. I got orange cranberry and blueberry. Now on to make clotted cream. I have the tea, so we're all set! Everyone having these - or anything else - tomorrow morning enjoy the festivities! Smiley Happy

Ina Garten has the best ever; however, a lot of work but I think worth it.  I agree King Arthur has some lip smacking good mixes, you can add to them.

Re: Looking for Scone recipes

I've only made them once and what I can remember from my less than stellar results is DO NOT incorporate the cold butter completely.  There are supposed to be little lumps left.  A good friend is an excellent baker, so I enjoy hers a couple times a year.

Re: Looking for Scone recipes

I also like the King Arthur scone mixes they are easy and delicious.  I use a box grater to grate my cold butter in and it works great.  Took that kitchen hint from Meridith, The Blue Jean Chef.
