Lazy Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars.... So Easy!

Someone sent me this recipe for Lazy Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars.  They look delicious and it can't get easier than this!

  • 1 stick of butter (1/2 cup)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 yellow cake mix (and brand)
  • Non-stick spray
  • 1 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips (12 oz bag)
Directions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350° and grease a pan (whatever size you want)
  2. Melt the butter then mix it with eggs until combined.
  3. Add in the cake mix and mix again.
  4. Add the chocolate chips (oh yes, the whole bag!) and mix all the ingredients together.
  5. Press the cookie dough into a baking dish prepared with non-stick spray
  6. Bake for 20 minutes, if you choose smaller pans bake for 25 to 28 minutes (I baked these ones for exactly 25 minutes)
  7. Let them cool for a moment then cut them into squares. The longer they cool, the better they will hold their shape.
  8. Serve with a cold cup of milk!Lazy-Cookie-Bars-copyright-www.thecountrycook.net_-1-825x1024.jpg

I love lazy baking, lazy cooking actually also. Once you figure it out you can pretty much cook alot that way.

@ciao_bella - What size pan would bake for 20 minutes?  If I used a 8X8 how long would they bake?

9x9 inch square pan should do the trick

a 9x9 inch pan takes about 25 minutes so if you use an 8x8 inch pan I would say tack on another 5-8 minutes ...or 30-35ish minutes.

@ciao_bella  Thanks for the recipe.  I made them last night and WOW they are exceptional!  I did add 3 tsp of really good Mexican vanilla also.  My SO wants me to try it with a chocolate cake mix. It would probably be good with many different kinds of cake mix.  Thanks again.
