Cheating? No....Cost effective? Yes, have you seen the price of cheese lately...wow!

This, too. Last time I made homemade lasagna I realized I could have bought Stouffer's for about half the price. I like mine, but I think Stouffer's is a very acceptable alternative.

On 11/9/2014 Pickwickpapers said: No, I do not see this as cheating at all.......it is a good idea.............we have a deli in our area that will actually fix sides in your own casserole pans..........but bacon would be a good way to jazz it up.......Also you could add some chopped jalapeño peppers for an extra kick to one of the pans.........l like to add bread crumbs or crushed potato chips to the top for the last 5 minutes.......

Oooooh. I hadn't thought of jalapenos. I could make one with bacon and one with jalapenos... hmmm.

No worries 'bout the cheating. It's a perfectly fine substitute.

I would skip the bacon, though. I don't eat meat so I'm always appreciative of a no-meat option. What if the others also add meat to their mac & cheese?

I'd mix some shredded mild cheddar (from the bag), a little seasoning salt, and some bread crumbs and sprinkle across the top before baking. Voila! Delicious.

I don't think it is cheating at all. How many people sign up to bring dishes to pot lucks, and they bring store bought rolls, potato salad, etc? I'm actually more likely to eat something I recognize, like Stouffers, lol. Unless I know the person who made it (and the conditions of their kitchen, etc).

Macaroni and cheese is an easy dish to make for me and I just don't like the frozen varieties. I always look for BOGOs on cheese when I'm planning to make this or Lasagna.

It's always a victory for me when I remember why I entered a room.

I would do it myself. I don't see a problem

Cheating would be NOT bringing any mac n cheese. I have had the Stouffer's lately. It's not what it used to be. Bacon is a good idea--anything to jazz it up.

Glad you said that. I recently had some also and thought the same thing.
