It would only be cheating if the stipulation was made that either:
1) you must make it from scratch ...... or ..........
2) it must be your own personal recipe from scratch ...
With potluck, you want something that will appeal to many ..... and Stouffers fits the bill!
PS ..... If you add something like jalapenos or whatever, it would be helpful to have a card or post it note that says Mac and Cheese w/Jalpenos .... just so people know what they are getting.
Tink...I enjoy reading your posts
OMG, Bluegrassbaby ... thank you !

My Mom made Stouffers once and my brother and I revolted. It can never match homemade.
Well, that totally depends on who's making the homemade, doesn't it? My ex's mother used to put blue food coloring in (homemade) mashed potato.

There are no rules. In order to ensure that we wouldn't wind up with a tableful of the same item, we were each asked to sign up for something specific.
I always add an ingredients card to everything I bring to share. The older we get, the more of us have dietary restrictions. I'll be happy to list the ingredients including "Stouffer's Mac and Cheese".

It's only cheating if you intentional bring a dish you wouldn't serve in your own home. Just my take on it. So, if you like the dish, it's a win / win and both-gain situation. No guilt zone.
