Re: I'm convinced that I should

Another vote for the spiral ham from Aldi's, but I do not use the glaze as we do not like the sweet ham. My brother was a HoneyBaked person and even he was very impressed with my Aldi's ham. Their ground beef is also very good quality.

Aldi's has an Applewood Farms and one called Specialty Select double glazed ham in this week's ad. Sounds like you have eaten the plain, but delicious, one. Denisemb, glad you mentioned the lamb. I have always bought New Zealand lamb but I will try it now! Thanks to all of you for your comments.

While I've enjoyed Honey Baked Hams over the years, I'm just not a fan of sweet glazed ham if I have a choice - so I go with the plain. Totally personal taste on my part.

(We've also tried the Aldi's duck but I fear our disappointment was more because of my failure in roasting duck. Just haven't been able to pull it off! {#emotions_dlg.blush})

Ina has a wonderful recipe. Parboil first and then bake. Best I have ever made and so easy.

You convinced me, lol. Just came from buying my sprial sliced ham at Aldi's. I have not purchased ham from Aldi's before, but I know you all are great cooks on this forum so I trust your rec's on this. Thanks.

Be sure to let us know how it is. Don't think I have eaten duck.

Duck is dark meat. I don't care for chicken dark meat but love duck. It is greasy but if you prepare it the right way it is wonderful.

Aldi's needs to give us a commission. Look at all the products we sell for them. LOL

Re: I'm convinced that I should

I really like the spiral hams from Aldis. There are 2 kinds and one of them has the best glaze and I don't know which brand it was though. They were both good.

Re: I'm convinced that I should

I like bone in ham. Spiral hams, for us, seem to have less flavor and drier.

I buy Aldi's cheapest ham....$.99 a lb. Then I make a paste of brown sugar and yellow mustard. Wrap it tightly and bake at 350 for 2-3 hours. Let sit 1 hour then open up and enjoy.
