How do you store your celery?

I put the celery in the crisper but it doesn't last very long. I have tried wrapping it in paper towels. Every few days I have to take a few stalks off and throw them out.

I keep it in the plastic bag it comes in, in my crisper drawer when it fits, or just on a fridge shelf, if it's too long for the drawer...either way, it stays fresh for weeks, until it's gone.

No damp paper towels, not nothing added to it.

I always liked to have already-cleaned celery sticks ready for me to snack on during the day.  I would prepare the whole bunch and then store in a L&L container.

In the bag it comes in. If it gets limp I cut off the end and place it in a mug of water overnight to firm the stalks.

I use a green bag they used to sell on HSN.  Don't know if they still do.  Keeps for a long time.

I have a celery keeper, a long green plastic box with a rack that keeps the celery away from wetness.  I've had it a very long time and always use it as it really does keep the celery in good condition longer.

Re: How do you store your celery?

When I get home from the store, I cut the tops and bottom of the celery bunch and remove all the leaves (Iput those in the freezer to save for when I make chicken stock).

I take a Lock and Lock with a drainer tray, put a paper towel under the tray and place the clelery in.  Then I put another paper towel on top of the celery before closing the lid.  My celery can last 3 weeks in perfect condition. I keep it on a regular refrigerator shelf.

I have many Lock and Lock's with these trays/inserts and I will store a lot of my veggies prepped that way: carrots, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, green beans  and even berries.  Works very well.

And when I open the container to take some out, I  always wipe off any moisture on the inside of the lid. This is an important step, as food is so expensive these days, I hate to let things spoil or go to waste.

I always kept it in the bag in came in - it lasted a few weeks.

Now I buy small amounts already cut - I keep them in a Ziplock baggie.
