Hey all! I just made some homemade peanut butter in my Vitamix and was wondering what the shelf life is and if it needs to be refrigerated.

Yes it needs to be refrigerated. Not sure about shelf life. When I made some we ate it within days because it was so good!

It does need to be refrigerated. I usually just make enough to last a couple weeks. It seems to dry out a little after that.

I always make my peanut butter in the vitamix and it lasts forever in my fridge. I have kept it for a little over 2 months and it was still delicious. I try to just make enough for 2 or 3 weeks but sometimes we don't eat as much as other times and it just stays amazing in my fridge.

When I did it with almonds it seemed like it made so little - that the store purchase maybe was a decent price. That being said enjoy glad that you are using that vitamix

Probably like squeezing your own orange juice. For the cost of one glass of freshly-squeezed, you could probably buy a half gallon of Minute Maid.

I think it depends on where you buy your peanuts but generally it is more expensive than store bought. You are definitely not saving money but it is delicious.

I am lucky to have stores that have that grind your own option so I can make as much as I need at that point in time. As it is just me, I appreciate the option of always having freshly ground peanut butter in small amounts that are always pretty much fresh.
