Homemade Deviled Ham
I tried this recipe recently. Wow! This is so much better than the stuff in the can. It would make a good appetizer on crackers for a party.
Ingredients
1 pound (about 3 cups diced) smoked ham, cut into 1-inch cubes**
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup prepared yellow mustard (like French's)
1/2 cup chopped yellow onion (or 1/4 cup dried onions)
1 Tablespoon dill or sweet pickle relish
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves (or dried)
3 tablespoons maple syrup (or dark corn syrup)
2 tablespoons hot sauce (or to taste - recommended: Tabasco)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons paprika (smoked paprika if the ham is not smoked)**
1 teaspoon plain mustard powder (like Coleman's)
Black Pepper to taste
Directions
Combine all ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth.
Use as a sandwich filling or spread on crackers for a snack.
**If you don't have smoked ham, you can add smoked paprika or a little liquid hickory smoke or just use regular ham.
Makes about 3 cups.
