@rockygems123 , this is it!  I sprinkled coconut on top. The recipe said to use it as garnish on the icing but it may have been good to add it to the batter, also.

Oh great!  And wonderful that you added cocounut, I was thinking the same thing.  We have a Hawaiaan / Japanese restaurant in town and love their cake, I think it is this one with the coconut you add!  Yum, can't wait to try.

 

And trying to get my son to pick that place for his birthday dinner this weekend lol.

I  have this recipe although I'm not sure where I got it. I've made it several times but make half the recipe in an 8x8 pan. It's delicious - very moist. I don't normally make an icing for it, just serve it with a dollop of Cool Whip or Redi-Whip. It's an easy recipe to cut down for those of us with smaller households.
