Have you Ever Made Two-Ingredient Bread with a Bread maker?

[ Edited ]

I bought a bread maker so I could make my own bread;  two-ingredient bread specifically.
(Yogurt & self rising flour)

I've tried regular yogurt and greek yogurt, but both breads are very chewy like dumplings.
What am I doing wrong?
AND ... what bread setting should I use?
The bread maker I bought does not have a setting for 2-ingredient bread.

Two ingredient bread made with yoghurt and flour does not have to rise or be kneeded.

You just mix ingredients, pour into a pan and bake.

A bread machine is not necessary and because it kneeds the dough and has rising times, it won't make good bread.

Does your recipe say you can make this bread in a machine?

@RinaRina.  I'm not a master bread maker,j but my guess is a bread maker overworks that type of bread, making it tough.  It probably needs minimal handling.

No.  I  saw the recipe on You-tube.  Then decided to get the breadmaker.  I figured I wouldn't have to do anything.  Just dump in the two ingredients and the breadmaker would do it's magic.

Ohhhh!  That's interesting.
I've always used "knead" for 15 minutes, then "bake" for 40 minutes.
Maybe I should leave out the "knead" step.
THANKS for the tip.

I've made that 2 ingredient bread w/beer and self rising flour. It's really good.

But,why would you need a bread maker for only 2 ingredients and no rise time?

Exactly.  The beauty of a two ingredient recipe like this is that it's quick and easy as it is.  Trying to involve a bread machine in the process just complicates things.

@RinaRinaif you truely don't like fussing over food prep, just make this bread the way it was intended.

Re: Have you Ever Made Two-Ingredient Bread with a Bread maker?

Well, I think I just discovered my mistake ... GREEK yogurt.
I'm now reading a recipe as follows:
"

Ingredients You Need

  • Self-rising flour (find it in the baking aisle by the other types of flour or make your own as discussed above)
  • Whole milk

Greek yogurt is too heavy.  That's why the bread came out so ... "chewy".
