Re: Has anyone made Sangria ?

I've not made sangria myself and like you I'm not a real wine drinker either.  If I do, I choose white that's on the sweeter side instead of dry.

I've thoght about making sangria too and I think it would be easy.  I also bet that if you googled a few recipe sites you'll find some recipes for sangria.  I'm also betting for sure you'd find one on 'thechew.com'.  I watch them all the time and I think I recall Clinton Kelly making sangria, and I bet Mario has a sangria online too.

If I were to make one I'd use white wine and toss in a few great fruits like peaches, pears, white grapes, kiwi would work too.

Re: Has anyone made Sangria ?

I make this one.  An oldie but goodie from 1973.

It makes 100 servings, so you really need to be a big drinker or have a big party.  I have cut it down to 1/4 of the recipe.

I like the Target boxed zin for this.

Re: Has anyone made Sangria ?

Sangria is my favorite type of wine.  There are actually some good ones you can buy right in the grocery store for around $6.00 - $7.00 a bottle. Two that come to mind (I can't access my stash right now), are Madria Sangria and Red Guitar, but there are others.  You can also add more fruit if you wish.  (This is making me thirsty!)

Re: Has anyone made Sangria ?

I make sangria all the time.  My favorite is always what they serve in Spanish and Portuguese restaurants.  This is the closest recipe I've found to that and my new favorite easy one.

Restaurant Style Sangria

Freeze 2 cups grapes and 12 oz. blackberries and raspberries

750 ml dry red wine

1 cup orange juice

1/2 cup tequila

1/4 cup triple sec

3 TBSP superfine sugar

1 orange, sliced

Chill at least one hour.  Add frozen fruit right before serving.

You don't taste the tequila, but you feel it when you try to stand up!  Drink at your own risk lol

Re: Has anyone made Sangria ?

Sangria is a typical beverage from Spain and Portugal. It normally consists of red wine, chopped fruit, a sweetener, and a small amount of added brandy.  Chopped fruit can include orange, lemon, lime, apple, peach, melon, berries, pineapple, grape, kiwifruit and mango.

A sweetener such as honey, sugar, syrup, or orange juice is added.

Other liquids such as Seltzer, Sprite or 7 Up may be added.

Sangria is steeped while chilled for as little as minutes or up to a few days.

Steep the fruit in the wine before adding the bubbly.

The combination of wines and fruits is your choice.  There is no set rule.

Re: Has anyone made Sangria ?

I've never made sangria (my niece does), but I emailed her a Caramel Apple Sangria recipe I found on Pinterest that sounds wonderful.

You could check Google, too.
