This sounds great! But, is there a way I could increase the amount of baking soda and not use the baking powder? Is that possible, because I detest the way baking powder makes food taste--it's bitter

I stopped using Crisco years ago. I know there is not much diff between butter and Crisco but I prefer butter.

Yes, you can sub butter, I've made this before from her recipe and I subbed butter and it was perfect!
