I swear I could smell it this morning and yet I wasn't baking with it at all. So I'm busy looking up some recipes I might want to try. It's a good scent for this time of year.
I don't do the gingerbread men or houses. Wonder on here, who does? Or maybe once did. Some are very fancy and I'm not at this age, into that, but if I had little kids around, it would be fun to try and make one.
Do you do any Gingerbread stuff in the kitchen? Bake anything with it?

We must be on the same wave length. I made ginger cookies and pumpkin bread yesterday. So yummy!

@qualitygal I have a large kitchen gingerbread display, will be posting pics in the Holiday forum later this year.
I used to make large gingerbread man cookies, decorated, for DD to take to school for her friends, but havn't done that for a while. I make gingerbread on Christmas Eve for desert.
Pumpkin nut raisin bread is upcoming. I bake in a large pan of small loaves and freeze them individually. I actually like them right out of the freezer as they never freeze hard, but the problem is, I can never stay away from them, lol, great with tea in the morning.

Does anyone have a crisp gingerbread cookie recipe that is not too difficult.I love the smell in the house at this time of the year too.

I did this one about three Christmas' back and all loved it. Not as sweet as fudge type brownies but oh so good if you love Gingerbread.
Total Time: 35 minutes
Yield: one 9 x 13 inch pan

I posted this recipe a few weeks ago.
GINGERBREAD DUTCH BABIES.
Dutch babies are one of my favorite quick breakfasts to make on the week-ends with lemon and powdered sugar. I saw this recipe in the Smitten Kitchen cookbook and decided to give it a try this morning. With some bacon and fresh fruit this would be a great fall breakfast.
2 large eggs
1 T dark brown sugar
1 t molasses
1/3 cup AP flour
1/4 t cinnamon
1/8 t ginger
Pinch of cloves
1/8 t freshly grated nutmeg
Pinch salt
1/3 cup whole milk
2 T unsalted butter
Confectioner sugar, maple syrup or heavy cream to serve.
Preheat oven to 400.
Run eggs in a blender until they are pale in color. Add remaining ingredients except butter and process until smooth. Melt butter over high heat in a 9 inch oven-proof skillet; swirl it up the sides making sure the pan is nicely coated. Pour batter into the prepared skillet and bake in oven for 15 to 20 minutes. Slide pancake onto a plate and serve.
I served it with maple syrup. If you make Dutch babies this recipe does not puff up like regular recipe does.

@qualitygal I decorate some with Gingerbread at Christmas I just started to last year, so only have a few pices, Valerie Parr Hill items. My husband does not like Gingerbread so I do not make anything with it, I would love to have a little one around to decorate cookies with though. And I have always wanted to make a gingerbread house, but with problems with my right arm that is something I will dream about for a long time to come I am afraid, dexterity issues, I could not use the decorator bags or guns anymore.

When my son was little I made a gingerbread house and was surprised at how well it turned out. My son was delighted with it and we let it up all year round and used it again the next Christmas. I like gingerbread and ginger snaps, but no one else in the family does.
