I have to limit myself to having these during the holiday season only - - - they're so delish that I would drink them every day!
It does seem to be a "chick drink" - - - no man I know likes them. More for me.
This will require a trip to the store for most people (for the ginger).
Gingerbread Martinis
4 inches of fresh ginger - peeled and sliced into thin slices
4 cinnamon sticks
6 whole cloves
3/4 cup water
3/4 cup sugar
Vanilla vodka (I use Absolut)
Make the gingerbread syrup:
In a medium saucepan, mix the water, sugar, ginger, cinnamon sticks, and cloves and heat until it just comes to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 15 minutes. Let it cool. Strain the liquid into a clean container and discard the solids. Chill.
Make the martini:
Mix 1 part gingerbread syrup and 2 parts Vanilla vodka in a martini shaker with some ice. Strain into a pretty glass and enjoy!
I think Hiram Walker has a gingerbread liqueur and I have tasted this made with the liqueur and vanilla vodka and I guess it will do in a pinch. The above recipe is better, IMO.
