This is so easy to do. Butter is easily softened in the microwave, and the rest is kid stuff. Smiley Happy

These are our two favorite garlic bread recipes. Most variations involve using some different herbs; some add olive oil along with the butter, some smash the garlic with salt to make a little paste to mix with the butter, and some leave out the cheese entirely.

Another difference involves how to slice it. One method involves slicing a whole loaf along the length almost through to the bottom, then buttering the individual slices on one side, wrapping the eentire loaf in foil to heat. Another and easier way is to cut the loaf in half horizontally, buttering each half, kind of like slabs, and then heat till edges begin to brown and butter/cheese is melted and bubbly. Then the slabs can be cut into individual pieces.

Quick and Easy Garlic Bread

1 stick softened salted butter
3-4 T grated parmesan cheese, coarse grate
2-3 minced garlic cloves
1 t Italian seasoning

Mash everything together with a fork. Slather evenly onto bread with a spatula.

Susan would either do rounds or slabs (cut the loaf lengthwise, then into sixths or eighths) of Alfaro's 4-Seed baguettes, and put under the broiler until molten and just browning around the edges.

I'd stack that garlic bread up with any recipe/technique in the world.

LA Times Garlic Cheese Bread

1 loaf French bread
1/2 c butter, softened
1 c shredded Asiago cheese
1 c shredded Jack cheese
1 c mayonnaise
1 bunch green onions, chopped
2-3 cloves garlic, minced

Preheat oven to 350 deg F.

Split bread into halves horizontally. Mix butter, cheeses, mayo, onions and garlic. Blend well. Spread mixture on bread halves. Bake for 7 minutes, then place under broiler 2-3 minutes longer. Slice.
