Has anyone here heard of this or even seen it? I haven't but I like what a report from HuffPo has to say about it.  My RA recommends grass fed meat for me.

This is from a larger article on the site about foods good for us to eat if we're trying to lose weight.

Grass-Fed Butter - For years we’ve been told to avoid butter and opt for olive oil, but new attitudes around fat now say that butter from grass-fed cows can in fact be a healthy part of a diet ― so there’s no need to banish it entirely from your diet. The dairy fat from pastured cows contains high levels of vitamin K, which helps your body use calcium. Plus, there’s the fact that butter makes all our veggies taste so good that we’ll want to eat more of them ― though, even though we hate to say it, let’s do this in moderation.

Kerrrygold (Ireland)

Anchor (New Zealand)

Organic Valley (USA)

All can be found in most healthier markets such as Whole Foods.

But do your research:  some grass fed cows are fed grains in the winter instead of grass.

I was buying butter from grass fed cows from a local farmer until it was hard to come by. I still buy it when they have it. I have been buying Kerry Gold butter from grass fed cows since.

@Nightowlz  We do too but:  Kerrygold cows only graze 10 months out of the year, so it isn't 100%  "pure" grass fed.

As I mentioned earlier,  cows that do not graze 12 month per year are not "pure" grass fed cows.

Re: GRASS FED BUTTER

[ Edited ]

@Noel7 ~ thank you for your post.  Nothing like the real thing for sure, and I love butter (in moderation now).  Kerrygold grass-fed butter is on my shopping list.  It got great reviews for flavor (taste).

Thanks again!  @Nightowlz ~ thanks for your comment as well.

i don't know if I'd get too particular about grassfed butter (cows feeding on grass 10 mos. vs 12mos).  But it's good to know.  I don't think the taste or flavor is compromised, I guess maybe the grassfed part.  I've been eating butter all my life, and maybe grass-fed at some point too.  Some brands are certainly tastier than others.  If I'm going to use butter, it might as well be a great tasting one and hopefully, better for you.

I don't get butter often but I have bought Kerrygold a couple of times at Trader Joe's.  Never noticed if it said grass fed, but I'll look.

Absolutely - the only kind of butter I will buy.

I buy Kerrygold, both the salted (for savory dishes) and unsalted (for sweetened recipes).

Yes, it's more expensive, but I read that cheaper butters contain more water.  I can definitely taste the difference.

Butter oil is also recommended for certain health problems, like arthritis.
