I haven't had Spam since I was a kid, and that was a loooong time ago!  😬

But, I actually have a can of "lite" Spam in the cupboard now.  I bought it at the beginning of the pandemic when all of the grocery store shelves were bare and it was one of the few things left to buy.  So I grabbed it out of desperation.  I think I'll open it up this weekend and have some with some eggs!

Spam is a staple in my pantry. In a hurricane, it is as good as steak!

It's extremely popular in Hawaii. They even had it as a McDonald's sandwich. I've never had Spam but my parents used to make fried bologna sandwiches.

@SoonerLater , I like all those except never tried or had the chance to try poke salad. I had my first oxtails in Jamaica about 20 years ago and was instantly hooked.

I never had it as a kid but my husband, who was from Wichita, introduced me to it years ago and I love it. I thinly slice it and fry it crispy in my cast iron skillet. I don't eat it often but keep it on hand during hurricane season.

@colliemom4  I had fried bologna sandwiches growing up and used to make them myself as an adult.  I haven't had one in a very very  long time though.  I used to love them.  Saute some onions, fry up the bologna, then put it on white bread with mayo.  Not a very healhty meal, but sure tastes good!

Bologna and Spam are always found in this house, and are now fried in the air fryer.    We love both, and eat them at any time of day.

@colliemom4

Your reply reminded me of something .... my father introduced me to fried liverwurst sandwiches, rye bread, sweet relish.

It's delicious!

I haven't had it in years - guess what I'm buying next time I'm at the supermarket

Spam musubi wrapped in seaweed is a staple and eaten regularly in Hawaii. I eat it occasionally, really good, bit salty though.
