Going to make a couple and freeze them now for quick dinners during the holiday break. I think I will make one with the classic Doritos flavor and the other with the cool ranch Doritos

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 Cans Pillsbury Crescent Sheets
  • 1 LB. Ground Beef
  • 1 Taco Seasoning Packet
  • 1 1/2 Cups Sour Cream
  • 1/2 Cup Salsa
  • 2 Cups Cheddar Cheese (Or Mexican 4 Cheese), Shredded
  • 1/2 9.5oz Bag Doritos (Your Favorite Flavor), Crushed
  • 1/2 Stick Butter, Melted
  • Cilantro (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease a 9" pie dish and line with your crescent rolls, leaving a rim at the top.
  2. Cook your ground beef, with taco seasoning, according to package instructions. Drain well.
  3. Using a plastic bag, crush your Doritos. Add half of your Doritos to the top of your cresent roll shell - this is your first layer.
  4. Place your cooked and seasoned ground beef on top of the Doritos layer.
  5. In a seperate bowl, combine your salsa and sour cream with a whisk. Layer the mixture of the top of your ground beef.
  6. Next, add your shredded cheese.
  7. Add the remaining crushed Doritos on top of the shredded cheese.
  8. Finally, add your melted butter on top. Bake for 18 - 20 minutes until golden brown. Garnish with cilantro, if desired.

Notes

  • You can use whatever flavor of Doritos you'd like for your pie.
  • Don't be afraid to add more shredded cheese, if desired. You measure that with your heart.
  • Don't have salsa? You can easily substitute hot sauce as well
  • f you can’t find Pillsbury Crescent Sheets, the traditional triangle crescent rolls work well too. Just place them in the bottom of the pie dish and press the seams together. Fold the top of the triangles over, to create the pie edge.

The pie is good in the freezer, for up to 3 months. Let it thaw 24-hours in the refrigerator before heating again. When I’m warming it up from a thawed state, I’ll use the oven at 300º for 20 minutes. Just check that the center is warmed thoroughly.

I make this same recipe, except that it calls for Fritos and no melted butter. Really yummy. Not sure what the point is in using a stick of melted butter?

@Chi-town girl This sounds delish! I am definitely going to try this, but will be using Impossible plant based meat substitute. Thanks for posting another great recipe!😊

@Chi-town girl ....thank you...I am going to try this out on my grandchildren!  Everyone loves tacos...what's not to like here?!

@Steffdoggy10 ....recipe calls for 1/2 stick of butter ...that I can understand.  You mentioned a "stick"...which did seem like a lot.

I knew I should not open this thread from the heading.  Love the recipe and printed it out.  Below are my Doritos addiction.

YUM!  I think my family would like this alongside our traditional holiday dishes.  Do you think that if I doubled the recipe and bake in a 13"x9" dish it would work?

Seeing recipes like this, I am so jealous.

My son will not eat anything with tomatoes, especially chunks like in salsa. I see so many tempting recipes that I can't make.

@drizzellla - I wonder if you can substitute the salsa with a fire roasted sauce or just a plain smooth tomato sauce?

Excellent suggestion but he does not eat any tomato sauce if he can help it. He will not eat any sauce on spaghetti or ravioli. Lasagna he will take a tiny piece and scrap off as much tomato sauce as he can.

Lots of time, his plate after he is "finished" eating looks like as much food as he had on his plate before he started to eat.

So for my birthday every year we go out to an Italian restaurant. And make him deal with it.

Thanks for trying to help.
