My Granny used to make a 'Pepper Relish" in the summer. As a child I would stand on a stool in front of the counter where she had fastened her old hand crank cast aluminum grinder and I would funnel green and red peppers through the grinder for what seemed like hours! And I'd always ruin my little shirts with the squirting pepper juice. It's a terrific memory.
However, I don't have Granny's recipe and was wondering if any of you have a recipe for what was called "Pepper relish". Not a pickle in sight, just peppers and I'm sure some other ingredients, but I don't know what or how much of anything nor how long to cook it, if at all!
Thanks for any ideas!

Oh, how I wish I had the recipe! My mom used to make that…..many, many, many years ago!!!!! Thanks for the memory!

Did you try Google?

It sounds like pepper jelly.
I make it most years, it is delicious. If you buy the small pack of Surejell the recipe is in there. That is the one I always use.

I just checked and surejell has a website with recipes.
Just search for Hot Pepper Jelly.

Oh, thank goodness someone else remembers! It wasn't hot peppers, just sweet peppers and I think maybe onions. This is what I found by Googling, don't remember the mustard or celery seeds, however. Any other memory bells ringing?

This site has what I remember most, but again, I'm blanking on the mustard and celery seed.
Is this coming in clearer for anyone else? Does it look like I'm on the right track?

I remember green peppers, red peppers and onion (along with vinegar) in my mom's pepper relish. But I don't have any idea what else was in there. Hers was definitely a relish, rather than a jelly. And it was sweet peppers. No spicy. I agree- I don't recall the seeds. Can't recall anything else…sorry!

This recipe came from a lady who if still alive would be 120 years old or so. It was in my mom's recipe book from a sweet elderly lady who always visited with food!!! Maybe this recipe is similar to the one you remember. I've never made it but my mom says it is really good.
