I never remember which meat product you are supposed to rinse before cooking. I remember someone boiling a meat and rinsing it and reboiling and rinsing it to get all of the salt out. Is it corned beef? I haven't ever cooked corned beef and help would be appreciated.

I think that was done many years ago. Corned beef sold today is not as salty as it was in the past. An easy way to make it is in the crock pot. Turns out great. I would certainly not do that boiling and rinsing thing you mention

My Mom always changed the cooking water when boiling corned beef, I have only made it in a crock pot

I only rinse it when I initially remove from the package, to rinse off the brine, then proceed with cooking.
It's never too salty.

I have never rinsed my corned beef. I hope I haven't been doing it wrong all these years! I guess it's ok - I'm still here LOL!!!

@cuddlesmama I do rinse the corned beef after I unpackage it mostly because it's kinda icky. I dry it with paper towels then put into a large pot with a can of beer and enough water to just cover the meat. I add potatoes, carrots and onion a little later in the cooking process. It usually turns out great.

@NicksmomESQ I use this recipe from an old issue of Cook's Country:
1 rinsed corned beef brisket
1 tbsp pickling spice
1 1/2 lbs peeled red potatoes
1 lb peeled carrots, halved crosswise
1 head green cabbage cut into six 2" wedges (keep core intact)
6 cups water
4 tbsp butter cut into 1/2" pieces
Put brisket in slow cooker and sprinkle with pickling spice. Put potatoes and carrots between meat and sides of slow cooker. Place cabbage on top of meat and pour in water. Cover and cook for 6-7 hours on high until meat is tender.
Turn off slow cooker and remove meat to platter. Tent with foil for 15 minutes. Replace slow cooker cover over vegetables.
Slice meat against grain into thin slices. Place vegetables on platter with meat and dot with pieces of butter.
