I'm sure that I'm the last person in America to purchase a slow cooker, but I'm on board. I've googled recipes and ordered a slow cooker cookbook fro .Amazon. What I'm asking is do any of you have a slow cooker recipe that you are especially fond of, and that you make often . If you would like to share this recipe, I would appreciate it. That chili recipe another poster just posted sounds great.

I love to make beef stew in the crock pot. I do mashed potatoes on the side since refrigeratered potatoes turn mealy from the starch changing to sugar.
I also prefer freshly steamed carrots.
I have the large oval crock pot.
Crock Pot Stew
1 1/2 lbs lean stew beef
1 can beef broth
1 C burgundy wine
1 1/2 Tbs Worcheschire sauce
Garlic powder to taste (mine is roasted garlic powder)
1 C roughly cut mushrooms
2 large onions quartered so they don't cook away
In a sprayed crock pot, place stew beef.
Add mushrooms sprinkled over
Place onion wedges around edges and in center.
Pour over beef broth, wine, adding Worcheschire sauce and garlic.
Cook on low 7 hours. It makes a wonderful liquid. I serve it in a bowl.

Crock Pot Turkey Breast
Large Turkey breast (I try for 8 or 9 lbs.)
1/2 stick melted Butter
2 Tbsp Poultry seasoning
2 Tbsp Marjorum
1/2 Tbsp Celery Seed
Spray inside of crock
Remove back from turkey breast (so the crock lid will close)
Place turley breast in crock
Rub with butter
Rub mixture of spices over
Place back on side of breast, cover with any spices on hand.
(No liquids)
Cover and cook on low 5 1/2 hrs.
Rest 1/2 hr before carving. (If you over cook, the meat will chip, not carving easily)
You will get a lot of broth which I seperate with a fat seperator.

I find it doesn't need to be browned. Fewer calories without browning too!

Once you get your cookbook, you will enjoy trying a lot of recipes. What do you like to eat....beef, chicken, pork, other? Great way to cook....fix in morning...done in evening! If you have had a long day, it is nice to know dinner is ready.

Sante Fe Chicken
2 chicken boneless breasts
2 cans black beans rinsed and drained
1 can pinto beans rinsed and drained
1 jar of Salsa ( I use Chi Chi's 16 oz mild)
1 packet Mc Cormick Fajita mix (mild)
Put chicken in crockpot, in a bowl mix up the other ingredients. Pour over chicken. Cook on low 8 hours or high 6 hours. Serve over rice and sprinkle cheddar cheese on top.
If I have left overs I shred the chicken and stir into the bean mixture. The next day I wrap this mixture in tortilla wraps place in pan cover with red enchilada sauce and cheese and bake 425 for 45 minutes or so. Two meals in one. Enjoy your crockpot.

I buy the chicken fajitas meat that is already seasoned and throw that in for several hours. i also like thin pork chops with dry ranch dressing mix dry onion dip mix and cream of mushroom soup. The chops fall apart but are so yummy. You can also add small potatoes. There are so many things pork roast cook and make pulled pork.
