I need help.  I have a recipe for Cream Puff Dessert and it calles for  1  6oz of vanilla instant pudding.  I made a mistake and bought the cooked.  You are supposed to mix the pudding with cream cheese and 3 cups of milk and cool whip.  Do you think if I cut back on the milk I could use the cooked pudding?

I used to make cream puffs when my children were still in school.  I always made home-made cooked pudding for the filling, sometimes chocolate, sometimes vanilla.

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question; just wanted you to know cooked pudding works great as the filling.

I would prepare the cooked pudding like the directions on the box but use less milk so it will be think.  When it is cooled stir in the other ingredients.  Never heard of cream cheese in a Cream Puff pudding.  I always just used the thick, rich pudding.

Probably, you can.  I'd experiment by bringing the cream cheese to room temperature and then mixing in a small amount of milk to thin it a bit. Then I'd start to mix in my pudding amd more milk in small amounts.  I do think you should get a filling that's good although it may be a little different from the actual recipe.

Obviously, I'm guessing but if you can't easily get that box of mix, that's what I'd try.  Good luck to you.

Thank you girls so much for your respones.   I never made this before it is called a cream puff cake and you spread the cream puff mixture into a 9x13 pan and put the other ingredients on top after it is baked.
