Does anyone remember what went into the original Chex Mix from years ago? And what was poured over the top as it was on the stove - I know there was Worcestershire Sauce, but what else? I can remember my mom making batches of it in her big old iron skillet but can't for the life of me remember what all was in it - and the stuff they sell in the grocery store is awful IMO.
Thanks!!

Go to chex mix.com many recipes are there and along with worcestershire sauce you put seasoned salt and red pepper sauce as well. Just go to chex website. I hope this helps.

DiamondGirly I use that recipe. I never can find bagel chips so I add cheddar fish or cheese-it crackers. I use Crispex cereal since it' spice on one side & corn on the other. That way I don't have to buy 3 boxes of Chex.

I just noticed this is a thread from 2011? How did it get to 2014 posts?

One of our boys likes "Mix" a whole lot better than traditional Christmas cookies, so that's what he got when he was "away at college". Instead of mixed nuts, I always use peanuts, no crackers and I usually double up the spice mixture adding chili & ground red hot pepper powder to spice/heat it up. I mix it up in my big electric roasting pan and "bake" it there. I make a lot and give as gifts as well as have it for holiday football games.

LOL. Someone working for Chex bumped the thread?

My recipe also uses seasoning salt.

I make this every year but I don't include the wheat chex as I don't like them. A suggestion for pretzels is Pepperidge Farms Goldfish Pretzels, they are just the right size and it keeps all the dry ingredients about the same size. This thread has prompted me to buy up all the ingredients this weekend and start baking up a batch.
