/>

<span style=I know I know......these look like every day ordinary Rice Krispie Treats....I'm sure you're rolling your eyes thinking what's the big deal about those?

Looks can be deceiving.....hidden in these treats is the single ingredient that makes these simple Rice Krispie treats stand out from the rest..........Biscoff Spread. Ree Drummond had mentioned her love for it as have Jenny Flake from Picky Palate and other bloggers have been raving about it too. I had to satisfy my curiosity, so I bought some and LOVED it.

When I saw this recipe by a member named Shugary Sweets on Ree Drummond's recipe site, Tasty Kitchen, I knew right away that I had to try these.

The simple addition of a little of that magical spread takes these ordinary Rice Krispie Treats to a new level of delicious. The crunch and slight saltiness of the cereal mixes with the sweetness of the marshmallow, then the graham cracker-cinnamon flavor of the Biscoff appears in the background giving you a "Hmmmmm-what IS that?" taste treat. It's subtle, but it's there, and it gives these an over the top taste.

The lady who created this recipe drizzled the tops with more Biscoff spread that had been warmed in the microwave-after tasting a little piece, I was happy with them plain and thought they'd probably store better. I will include the amount and instructions for the topping in the recipe.

If you haven't tried this wonderful spread from Belgium, I urge you to give it a try-I find it with the peanut butter and Nutella at the grocery store I shop at. It's unique-and I mean that in a GOOD way. Oh-and the Biscoff cookies are mighty good too. Here's a photo of the jar of spread in case you want to hunt it down at your favorite grocery store.......look near the peanut butter and Nutella-that's where it is in my grocery store....

I'm looking forward to incorporating this wonderful spread-and the cookies-in more recipes...I can't wait!

Thank you Shugary Sweets-this idea was PURE GENIUS!

BISCOFF RICE KRISPIE TREATS
(Source: slightly adapted from Shugary Sweets on Tasty Kitchen and HERE)

3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1 (10 oz.) pkg. marshmallows
1/2 c. Biscoff spread
6 c. Rice Krispies cereal
Additional 1/4 c. Biscoff spread for drizzling over bars (optional)

In large pot, melt butter over medium-low heat. Once butter has melted, add marshmallows and 1/2 c. Biscoff spread; stir constantly over low heat until marshmallow is smooth and creamy.

Remove from heat; quickly fold in cereal.

Spread mixture in a buttered 8×8-inch pan (for thicker treats) or 13×9-inch pan (for thinner treats). Cover; let set about 1-2 hours. Cut into squares.

If desired, in a small microwave bowl, melt the remaining 1/4 c. Biscoff for 30 seconds. Drizzle over treats, allow to set, about 30 minutes. 12 servings.
