There are a lot of variations of this recipe, most using a round springform pan; I prefer this recipe in a 9 x 13 baking dish. It is creamy and flavorful; always brings praise.

Bavarian Apple Kuchen

1/2 c butter, softened
1 pkg yellow cake mix
20-oz can sliced apples
1/2 c sugar
1 t cinnamon
1 c sour cream
2 egg yolks or 1 egg

Heat oven to 350 deg F.

Cut butter into dry cake mix until crumbly. Pat mixture into lightly greased 9 x 13 pan. Build up slight edge.

Bake 10 min.

Arrange apples on warm crust. Mix sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle on apples.

Blend sour cream and egg, and drizzle over apples. This will not completely cover the apples.

Bake 25 min or until edges are light brown. Do not over bake. Serve warm or cold.
