Does anyone have a suggestion/recommedation for a tomato free sauce for ribs?

Due to a tomato allergy no barbeque sauce, no paprika, or peppers.

Small quanity of soy is tolerated.

I was thinking some sort of honey asian sauce??

Any ideas appreciated.

@Abrowneyegirl You might try Pinterest. I think I saw some tomato free sauces on there.

Look up South Carolina BBQ sauce.  It's vinegar based.

Tomato Free Barbeque Sauce
paleo, AIP, night shade free, gluten free, dairy free, refined sugar free, corn free, soy free, egg free

1 cup pureed pumpkin (apple sauce could work too)
3 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tbsp molasses
1/3 cup maple syrup
3 cloves of garlic, crushed
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp coconut aminos ??
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated

1. In a saucepan, sautee slightly the garlic and ginger in coconut oil. Be careful not to burn them.
2. Add all other ingredients. Bring to a boil.
3. Simmer on low for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. Use on your favorite barbeque meats and veggies. Pour the rest into a glass jar and refrigerate.

Re: Barbeque sauce alternative

Google "white BBQ" or "Alabama BBQ" sauce

It's basically mayo, lemon juice, vinegar, S&P

It's a very good substitute.

I don't know if you've ever considered a dry-rub for your ribs instead of a bbq sauce. Many of us in St. Louis, Kansas City, Memphis and other areas love a wonderful dry-rub and slow grill for our ribs....no drippy bbq sauce please! Our ribs are tender, fall off the bone and fully seasoned and moist. There are tons of dry-rub recipes on the internet and prepared rubs available at your local grocery store - most include brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, dry mustard, seasoned salt, etc. Ribs are so good when slowly grilled or smoked with nothing more than a great dry rub, wrapped in foil for a couple of hours and then unwrapped for another hour or so to finish. Or just slow grill without the foil. The best ribs ever!

Teriyaki sauce maybe?  Sweet and sour?   I like dry rubs myself since we don't do a lot of BBQ sauce.  You can experiment with those.  Brown sugar, maybe hickory powder, a little salt, garlic, onion, and any other spice you like.   I usually poke holes in the meat and pack the rub on while I'm heating up the grill and then smoke them.

Re: Barbeque sauce alternative

This recipe was posted here years ago and I wish I had the nic of the poster. It is delicious. I always grill these with charcoal. She said that she parboiled the chicken first.

Cornell Chicken Sauce

1/2 cup oil

1 Cup white vinegar

2 Tablespoons salt (I don't use all the salt)

1 1/2 teaspoons poultry seasoning

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 egg, beaten

Mix all together and pour over chicken. Baste while grilling. Enough to do five halves. Do not save sauce.
